Ajax have already had a chaotic season which has seen them slip down to fourth in the Eredivisie and has seen the dismissal of Johnny Heitinga who only managed a win percentage of 33% this season before he was sacked - with Ajax also winless in the Champions League under his reign. 

They did manage to finally save face in Europe with a 4-2 win over Qarabag last time out, which at the very least lifts them off the bottom of the league phase in the competition. Their last two matches have seen 3+ goals with Ajax winning both of these games, giving them real motivation ahead of this clash to get back on track domestically.

Feyenoord also played during the week in the Europa League, losing a thriller against FCSB (4-3). This could be a very important factor in deciding the outcome of this match, as Ajax have had an extra day of rest before welcoming their rivals.

Feyenoord’s form has been confusing at times this season, but they do have a strong record on the road in the Eredivisie with five wins from their seven away matches this season. They’ve scored 20 goals across these matches (2.85 per game) which is the second highest tally on the road in the Eredivisie, behind PSV (24).

I’d expect a pretty end to end contest here with neither side showing particularly strong form across recent matches. The most recent head to head meeting between these sides saw Ajax run out 2-1 winners, and I could see a similar result here but would lean more towards goals and both teams to score, rather than the win markets.
