Algeria topped the standings in CAF Group G alongside Guinea, Botswana, Mozambique, Somalia and Lesotho to seal their return to the World Cup for the first time since 2014. Now at Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, the 35-year-old has confirmed this will be his final tournament. That sense of occasion could bring the very best out of him. 

When Mahrez is in the mood, he can produce moments of magic from nothing albeit a dribble, a pass, a goal that no opponent can plan for. 

Mohammed Amoura

The most in-form Algerian heading into this tournament by some distance. Amoura finished as the top scorer across the entire CAF qualifying region with 10 goals, and now carries 19 international goals into his first World Cup. 

With Wolfsburg relegated, Amoura will want to put on a show in North America as potential suitors will be watching. 

Quick, direct and clinical in front of goal, the 26-year-old is expected to lead Algeria's attack throughout the tournament and will be the man opponents fear most.

Amine Gouiri

One of the most technically gifted players in this Algeria squad, Gouiri arrives at the World Cup hungry having missed the last AFCON through injury. 

He has made up for lost time since then scoring couple of goals in the March friendly against Guatemala. Despite a season disrupted by injury at club level, he still contributed eight goals and three assists in Ligue 1.

A player with the intelligence and technique to unlock defences, Gouiri could be Algeria's most unpredictable weapon.
