Man United v Aston Villa
Kick Off: Sunday 25th May at 16:00
Manchester United will have to pick themselves up after a disastrous result in the Europa League final during the week, in which Tottenham ran out 1-0 winners, condemning United to a season without European football next term. This has raised serious question marks over what the club will be able to do in terms of summer transfer activity and Ruben Amorim’s future as a whole, they could do without the visit of Aston Villa who have plenty to fight for.
Unai Emery’s side are one of the key teams to keep an eye on during the final round of fixtures. They sit 6th in the league table coming into this game but are level on points with both Newcastle and Chelsea (66). They also have a one point buffer to Nottingham Forest who are also involved in the battle for a spot in the Champions League next season on the final day.
⭐ Man United v Aston Villa Best Bets
Aston Villa are quite generously priced to pick up all three points on the final day of the season at Old Trafford in a game they will feel they have to win if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Aston Villa have fired themselves into the Champions League conversation with a strong end to the season, winning eight of their nine Premier League games with the exception coming in a late defeat at Manchester City a few weeks ago.
Aston Villa have won each of their last three games in the Premier League against Tottenham, Bournemouth and Fulham. They’ve won all these games to nil and face off against a Manchester United side that have failed to win any of their last eight Premier League matches, losing six of those as they attempted to focus on the Europa League final - a tactic that looks to have backfired with United now having no motivation at all on the final day on the back of a tiring and draining final defeat against Tottenham.
Villa’s away record hasn’t been the most impressive this season and that is the main reason why they haven’t been challenging higher up in the table. However, Manchester United have only managed to win six of their 18 games at Old Trafford this season, their worst home record in the Premier League era. They’ve lost nine of those games with only three ending in draws, so their results tend to be quite black and white at home.

🟣 Morgan Rogers
Rogers was hauled down twice in the initial meeting between the sides back in October which ended in a 0-0 draw. Villa have been really strong when it comes to winning fouls this season, no side has won more fouls than Unai Emery’s side in the Premier League this campaign, they drew 11 fouls from Manchester United in the reverse fixture.
Rogers has won 51 fouls across his 36 Premier League appearances this season (1.51 per 90), we can expect a slight increase in this record seeing as Rogers will likely be running at Manuel Ugarte who was surprisingly benched for the Europa League final. Ugarte has committed 41 fouls across his 29 Premier League appearances this season (2.06 per 90).
🟣 Ollie Watkins
Watkins is ending the campaign strongly and has emerged in the most crucial moments for Aston Villa in the last few weeks. His deft touch to find the bottom corner against Bournemouth a few weeks ago was enough to get Villa all three points at the Vitality Stadium, and he also pitched in with an assist in Aston Villa’s 2-0 win over Tottenham last time out.
Watkins has registered 24 goal contributions across his 37 Premier League appearances this season, more than any other player in the Aston Villa squad, only Bryan Mbeumo (26), Alexander Isak (29) and Mohamed Salah (46) have recorded more goal contributions in the Premier League this season than Ollie Watkins.
