📈 Barcelona v Eintracht Frankfurt Form & Stats
Barcelona were involved in an eight-goal thriller on Saturday afternoon, as they put five past Real Betis on their travels. After going 1-0 down in the sixth minute courtesy of an Antony goal, the Catalans fired back strongly, and were 4-1 up going into half time. Ferran Torres scored three goals in the first period, while Pedri picked up two assists after making just his second start since returning from injury.
That result put Barcelona top of La Liga, with Real Madrid winning just one of their last five league games. The Catalans haven’t quite been so convincing in the Champions League this term, and their record of two wins, one draw and two losses places them in 18th spot heading into this clash.
Frankfurt were also involved in a high-scoring match most recently, but they were on the receiving end of a 6-0 drubbing. It was one-way traffic for most of the match, as Leipzig racked up 16 shots and five big chances worth 3.71 xG, while conceding just 0.46 xG in return. That result made it three games without a win for Frankfurt, who also sit outside of the qualification spots in the Champions League with just four points from their five matches.
📔 Barcelona v Eintracht Frankfurt Formation & Team News
Hansi Flick welcomed the return of Frenkie de Jong and Fermin Lopez off the bench at the weekend, and both will be in strong contention to return to the starting XI on Tuesday night. Robert Lewandowski was an unused substitute at the weekend, and may have a limited role once again, given how well Ferran Torres played. Raphinha also didn’t feature, but is likely to replace Marcus Rashford on the left wing.
Changes are on the horizon for Frankfurt following their terrible result at the weekend. Michy Batshuayi lasted just 45 minutes on his first start of the season, and is unlikely to feature here. With Jonathan Burkardt unavailable through injury, Dino Toppmoller will hope he can call upon Ansgar Knauff to lead the line - he was out with illness at the weekend. As some consolation, Can Uzun was fit enough to make the bench on Saturday, and will likely be rushed back into the starting XI.
