The second leg of this Champions League semi-final tie is finely poised, with these sides playing out a 3-3 draw in Barcelona last week. Barcelona looked brilliant going forward at times but equally looked susceptible to Inter’s counterattacks, especially down the right-hand side with Dumfries standing out.
Inter just about kept pace with Napoli in the race for the Scudetto with a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona between these ties to stay three points behind Antonio Conte’s side. Inter are yet to lose a game at home in the Champions League this season so it will be quite a challenge for Hansi Flick’s side in Milan on Tuesday evening.
⭐ Inter v Barcelona Best Bet
There is no doubt that Barcelona are one of the best attacking teams in Europe, but that alone may not be enough to carry them to Champions League glory this season, with their risky high line exposed multiple times in the first leg by Simeone Inzaghi’s side.
Inter are yet to lose a game at home in the Champions League this season, avoiding defeat against the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich on familiar territory this term. Prior to their first leg draw with Barcelona, Inter had only conceded five goals in the competition, which shows their defensive organisation, but it may actually be their attacking threat which carries them through here.
Barcelona play with a really high line, something that was exposed inside the first minute by Inter as Dumfries got in behind and delivered an excellent cross for Marcus Thuram to convert. This was a sign of things to come with Inter getting great joy by releasing Dumfries down the right and also from set pieces, an area in which they have more height and physicality than Barcelona.
Inter have only lost one game in the Champions League this season; in fact, they’ve only been trailing in the competition for 10 minutes and 53 seconds - a remarkable record at this level of football and reflective of the size of the task facing Barcelona. Barcelona were exposed in their second leg defeat to Dortmund in the quarter finals of the competition, and Inter may just have enough to punish their lack of defensive strength as they did in the first leg meeting.

Inter are yet to lose a game at home in the Champions League this season. They’ve only lost one game across the tournament as a whole and managed to hold Barcelona to a 3-3 draw in the first leg meeting between the sides.
Sommer was forced into making seven saves in the first leg meeting between the sides. He’ll be just as busy here with how forward thinking this Barcelona side are. He’s having to make 3.42 saves per game in the Champions League this season.
Inter were shown one card in the first leg meeting and committed 11 fouls. These numbers should rise slightly here seeing as it is the second leg of the tie and the jeopardy is more imminent. They’re averaging 1.92 cards per game in the Champions League this season.
👕 Inter v Barcelona Predicted XI

🔍 Inter v Barcelona Players to Watch
🔵 Denzel Dumfries
A key feature of the first leg meeting between the sides was Dumfries’ role down the right-hand side. He consistently found a way to time his runs from deep to beat the Barcelona offside trap and caused havoc for Barcelona with his pace and power.
He scored twice and picked up an assist, meaning that he had a hand in all three of Inter’s goals on the night, highlighting how important his role was. He’s only had three shots on target in the Champions League this season, but his average in Serie A is solid for a wingback (0.91 shots on target per 90).
His active role in the first leg also suggests that his numbers in Europe should improve here up against what will be another very high line from Barcelona.
🔵 Marcus Thuram
Inter are one of the very few top sides in Europe that still play with two strikers; all three of the other sides left in the competition play with a lone frontman.
This means that Thuram and Martinez occupy the opposition fullbacks very well, which puts them in the spotlight to draw fouls, especially against a high line.
Thuram was hauled down three times in the first leg meeting - more than any other player on the pitch. He’s averaging 2.55 fouls won per 90 in the Champions League this season and was hauled down seven times across two legs against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
