Bayern Munich will be looking to maintain their brilliant start to the season when they welcome Club Brugge to the Allianz Arena in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Vincent Kompany’s side kept up their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 win over rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Having already put both Chelsea and Pafos to the sword in this season’s Champions League, Bayern will be expected to make it three wins from three by seeing off Club Brugge.

The Belgian outfit have banked three points from their opening two matches in this season’s competition.

Bayern Munich to Win

Given what we have seen from them so far this season, it’s difficult to look beyond Bayern Munich racking up yet another win on Wednesday night. Vincent Kompany's side have enjoyed a flawless start to the season, with Saturday’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund making it 11 wins from 11 across all competitions this term.

Dig a little deeper, and it can be seen that Bayern have banged in a combined total of 37 goals across those 11 matches, remarkably hitting three strikes or more in all bar two of those contests.

While Club Brugge are no pushovers, they did come up short in their last Champions League away day at Atalanta. It would be fair to say that Bayern Munich will represent a serious step up in class, so the high-flying hosts should maintain their stunning start to the campaign by getting the better of their Belgian guests on Wednesday night.

Both Teams to Score

While I fully expect Bayern Munich to take top honours on Wednesday night, I think that there is plenty of scope for Club Brugge to grab a consolation goal. I watched Club Brugge ruthlessly cut Rangers apart in the play-off round and they also impressed me when they faced Celtic in Glasgow in this competition last season.

The Belgian outfit carry plenty of attacking threat, something that they demonstrated when making light work of Monaco with a 4-1 victory on matchday one, while they also made their mark in their subsequent fixture away at Atalanta. It’s also worth noting that Nicky Hayen’s side have blanked just once across their 11 Belgian Pro League matches this season, so they do tend to get themselves on the scoresheet more often than not.

Yes, Bayern will represent Club Brugge’s toughest test of the season to date, however, the hosts have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their previous two continental contests this term, while both teams have scored in five of Bayern Munich’s nine domestic victories this season.

Harry Kane to Score Anytime

With the Bayern Munich juggernaut expected to keep on rolling this week, it makes sense to back Harry Kane to help himself to another goal. The England captain is enjoying another remarkable season in Germany, netting his 19th goal of the season during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Four of those 19 strikes have arrived across Kane’s two outings in this season’s Champions League, with the 32-year-old sharpshooter bagging a brace against both Chelsea and Pafos. On top of that, Kane also notched twice during England’s 5-0 win over Latvia in World Cup qualifying last midweek.

As such, it’s clear to see that Kane is playing at the peak of his powers right now, so he has to be fancied to enhance his tally for the season on Wednesday night.

What’s more, Kane’s form doesn’t bode well for a Club Brugge side that have failed to keep a clean sheet in this season’s Champions League, not to mention the visitors’ backline has been breached in four of their six Belgian Pro League games away from home this term.

Christos Tzolis to have 2+ Shots

Christos Tzolis is a player who always impresses me, and I’m keen to back him to attempt two or more shots during this contest. The Club Brugge winger needs no invitation to try his luck in front of goal, evidenced by the fact that only four other players have attempted more shots than him (9) across the opening two rounds of league phase action. Tzolis racked up six efforts on matchday one against Monaco before posting three shots away from home at Atalanta.

It’s been a similar story on the domestic scene, with the Greece ace registering two shots or more in nine of his 11 appearances in this season’s Belgian top-flight. It’s also worth pointing out that Tzolis clocked up three shots during Greece’s defeat in World Cup qualifying away at Denmark earlier this month.

Club Brugge will carry plenty of attacking threat against a Bayern Munich side that likes to play with a high defensive line, and that only adds to the appeal of siding with two or more shots from Tzolis.

📈 Bayern Munich v Club Brugge Form & Tactics

Bayern Munich have looked unstoppable across the opening months of the season, impressively taking top honours from each of their 11 matches across all competitions. That stunning string of victories is made all the more impressive by the fact that the Bavarians have hit multiple goals in each of those 11 triumphs. That can be attributed to the fact that Vincent Kompany’s free-scoring side have racked up 27 strikes across their opening seven Bundesliga matches of the season.

On top of all that, Bayern have netted a joint-high eight goals across the opening two rounds of action in this season’s Champions League.

While Bayern Munich have been blowing teams away this season, their backline was breached during their home wins over both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund while they failed to silence Pafos away from home on matchday two.

After qualifying for this season’s Champions League by brilliantly dismantling Rangers in the play-off round, Club Brugge hit the ground running in style with a 4-1 win over Monaco on matchday one. Nicky Hayen’s side then looked to be on course for back-to-back wins before conceding two late goals when going down 2-1 at Atalanta last month.

The Blue-Black are ticking along nicely in this season’s Belgian Pro League, winning four of their last five matches - the most notable of which was a 1-0 victory over league leaders and defending champions Union Saint-Gilloise.

Club Brugge did not pick up a single card during their 2-1 loss to Atalanta on matchday two. What’s more, Hayen’s side have statistically been the best behaved team in this season’s Belgian top-flight, collecting a combined total of just 16 cards across their opening 11 games of the campaign.

📔 Bayern Munich v Club Brugge Formation & Team News

Vincent Kompany favours a 4-2-3-1 formation, with his team encouraged to play a possession-based style of play and to press up the pitch when the opposition have the ball.

Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Iro, Jamal Musiala and Josip Stanisic are all on the absentee list for the hosts, however Serge Gnabry is expected to return to the squad after missing Saturday’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Club Brugge boss Hayen tends to set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with a lot of their best work in the final-third coming through dangerous wide duo Carlos Forbs and Christos Tzolis.

The visitors will be without veteran goalkeeper Simon Mignolet as he continues to recover from an adductor injury, so Nordin Jackers should continue to deputise between the sticks. Midfield duo Ludovit Reis and Raphael Onyedika are also expected to miss out for the away side.
