Michael Olise to Score Anytime

Olise has scored three goals across his two Bundesliga appearances so far this season. He had a brilliant breakthrough campaign for Bayern last season, registering 17 goals and providing 18 assists across his 50 appearances in all competitions.

I think he'll have an even better campaign this time around having had a season to adapt to his new surroundings and play at a higher level, including in the Champions League where Olise didn’t look out of place.

As well as his three goals in the Bundesliga this season, Olise has also scored in the DFB Pokal and found the back of the net over the international break as France beat Ukraine. He’s in excellent goalscoring form and can continue to offer a serious goal threat against a Hamburg side that will surely struggle with the attacking quality and relentlessness of Bayern Munich.

Over 1.5 Hamburg Corners

When looking at possible angles where Hamburg could get some joy here, I was drawn to the corner market. Hamburg won’t get many opportunities to venture into Bayern’s half, but set pieces can offer a useful route to the goal in the absence of a clear path to goal from open play.

Hamburg have had two or more corners in both of their Bundesliga games so far, having as many as six when they travelled to face Mochengladbach on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season. Bayern Munich conceded seven corners against Augsburg last time out and five corners against Leipzig in their most recent game at the Allianz Arena.

  • Bayern have won both of their Bundesliga games against Augsburg and Leipzig so far this season, scoring nine goals in the process.

  • Hamburg have failed to score in their opening two Bundesliga matches as a newly promoted side.

  • Bayern Munich won 14 of their 17 home games in the Bundesliga last season.

🔴 Bayern Expected to Dominate

Bayern have started the season positively as they look to retain their Bundesliga crown which was briefly ripped away from them a few seasons ago by Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side. They have added to their squad in the transfer window, seemingly going for talent that is ready to perform now as opposed to signing young players that they will have to develop.

The signings of Nicolas Jackson and Luis Diaz add immediate attacking quality to the squad to support Harry Kane who has had to carry the goalscoring burden largely on his own shoulders for Bayern Munich over the last few seasons. Bayern don’t really get properly tested in the Bundesliga with their squad being head and shoulders above the majority of sides in the division, as their 5-0 annihilation of RB Leipzig on the opening weekend further confirms.

Bayern won 14 of their 17 games at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga last season, losing just one of these games so we can anticipate a difficult evening for the newly promoted side here.

🔵 Uphill Task for Hamburg

It’s already clear that staying up will be a real challenge for Hamburg. They claimed a valiant draw on the opening weekend of the season on the road against Gladbach, but would have lost that game more often than not with the chances that Gladbach managed to create in the game.

They were then punished in a derby against St Pauli, falling to a 2-0 defeat at home and also being reduced to 10 men in that game. The main issue that Hamburg will face this season is finding a consistent source of goals, they’re backline can be pretty sturdy but if they don’t have an outlet at the other end of the pitch then there are going to be a lot of games where Hamburg can’t even get past the halfway line.

The main hope for Hamburg lies with the players they’ve brought in during the summer transfer window. They’ve signed former Arsenal duo Fabio Viera and Sambi Lokonga, as well as returning to North London to sign young centre back Vuskovic on loan from Tottenham.

📊 Bayern v Hamburg H2H

The most recent competitive meeting between the sides took place back in 2018 and saw Bayern Munich run out 6-0 winners at the Allianz Arena.
