📂 Brighton v Liverpool Cheat Sheet
📈 Brighton v Liverpool Form & Stats
After losing 1-0 in the first leg, Liverpool were always going to be front-footed at Anfield, and they blew Galatasaray out of the water. It was a much-needed convincing win for Arne Slot.
The Reds have suffered some disappointing results in recent weeks, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Spurs in their last Premier League outing, breaking a six-game losing streak for the visitors. Not many would have given Tottenham a chance pre-match, but they had some excellent chances, and Richarlison was finally able to find the back of the net in the 90th minute. Before that, Liverpool were also beaten by Wolves, conceding twice despite their opponents having just four shots.
With the record of ten wins, ten draws, and ten losses in the Premier League this season, Brighton have been incredibly inconsistent and a difficult side to predict. They do, at least, some into this clash in a positive stretch, with three wins from their last four matches. The one result to tarnish their record was a 1-0 loss against Arsenal, who are running away at the top of the league.
Brighton have little to play for at the moment - they are not in contention for the European spots, but also well clear of any relegation scrap.
📔 Brighton v Liverpool Formation & Team News
Carlos Baleba was absent from the matchday squad against Sunderland last time out due to a minor injury, but the Cameroon international seems to have lost his place in the starting eleven to James Milner anyway.
The former Liverpool man looks set to partner Pascal Gross in midfield. Minteh could continue on the left wing in place of the injured Kaoru Mitoma, with Diego Gomez on the opposite flank, and Danny Welbeck up front.
Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool midweek, and the Hungarian international is in undroppable form at the moment. He should keep his starting spot in midfield, where he has more attacking freedom. Cody Gakpo was dropped to the bench against Galatasaray, and he may find it difficult to break back in given how well Liverpool performed.
Not many changes are expected from Arne Slot this weekend, with no fresh injury concerns from that midweek game, but Andy Robertson could be in contention to start to afford Milos Kerkez a rest.
