Cameron Congreve has been one of Dundee's standout performers in the Scottish Premiership this season, and I’m keen to back him to either score or assist against Dundee United on Sunday. The Welsh winger netted a wonder goal during Dundee's recent 3-3 draw with Hibernian and he has looked noticeably sharper as the season has progressed - much like Dundee themselves.

That goal was just Congreve’s second of the season, but it’s his creativity that really stands out. The Swansea loanee has already contributed six assists in the Scottish Premiership this season, a tally only bettered by four other players, who all have seven. One of those assists came against Livingston at home last month, and Congreve also set up one of Dundee's two goals in a Player of the Match display against Celtic at this venue earlier in the campaign.

Now, set to face a Dundee United side that have kept only four clean sheets across their 29 Premier League matches this season - including just one in 14 top-flight away games - Congreve looks well placed to deliver another goal involvement at Dens Park on Sunday.

In a fixture where tensions tend to run high and tempers could boil over, a case could be made for several players in the card markets. However, the one who stands out as a strong booking candidate is Vicko Sevelj.

The Croatian is no stranger to a card this season, having picked up eight across 31 appearances in all competitions. Sevelj began the campaign in midfield but has recently been shifted to the right side of Dundee United's three-man defence, a move that could present him with his toughest challenge of the season at Dens Park on Sunday. He will likely shoulder the difficult responsibility of containing Tony Yogane, who has been a magnet for fouls this term.

In fact, the Dundee forward has been the most fouled player in the Scottish Premiership this season, drawing an average of 3.78 fouls per game. Yogane’s pace, direct running, and trickery should give Sevelj plenty to contend with, making another booking a real possibility.

While I’m not backing a specific Dundee player to pick up a card, I do expect the hosts to collect at least a couple of cautions during Sunday’s all-Dundee clash at Dens Park, which'd take us close to the required line for this bet. Although Steven Pressley’s side have generally been one of the better-disciplined teams in the Scottish Premiership this season, averaging around 1.5 bookings per game, that number has been creeping up in recent weeks.

Dundee have received two or more cards in three of their last four Scottish Premiership matches, with as many as 4 players booked during last weekend’s 2-1 win over Motherwell. What’s more, the Dark Blues have had multiple players booked in seven of their last eight top-flight fixtures in front of their own supporters.

Facing their arch-rivals on Sunday, there is every reason to think that trend will continue or even increase - especially considering that Dundee United are drawing an average of 1.80 cards per game from their Scottish Premiership opponents this season.
