Fluminense v Al Hilal
Kick Off: Friday 4th July at 20:00
Competition: FIFA Club World Cup
A surprise quarter-final matchup sees Al Hilal take on Fluminense, with the winner set to face off against either Palmeiras or Chelsea in the semi-finals. Al Hilal beat Manchester City 4-3 after extra time to reach this stage of the competition, while Fluminense saw off Inter by a 2-0 scoreline.
This quarter final means that we are guaranteed a non-European side in the final four of the tournament, and both will certainly feel that they are on the easier side of the draw and could be set up for a surprise run to the final.

⭐ Fluminense v Al Hilal Best Bets
Marcos Leonardo was the hero as Al Hilal battled past Manchester City to come away 4-3 winners after extra time, Leonardo scored the equaliser to get Al Hilal back in the game and also scored in extra time to secure a historic victory for Simone Inzaghi’s side, making them the first Saudi Pro League side to beat a Premier League side in a competitive match.
Leonardo usually plays just in behind Alexander Mitrovic but with the former Fulham striker still sidelined, the Brazilian forward should be given the nod to lead the line again here. As well as the three goals that Leonardo has scored at the Club World Cup, he netted 17 goals across his 21 appearances in the Saudi Pro League during the 24/25 season - an excellent record for a striker that has to share the goals with Mitrovic who has been Al Hilal’s top scorer for the last two seasons.
Leonardo should have plenty of confidence following his brace against Manchester City to be up for the challenge of trying to break down a stubborn Fluminense side who have shown their defensive quality at the Club World Cup.

🔍 Fluminense v Al Hilal Players to Watch
🔵 Ruben Neves
Ruben Neves was excellent in Al Hilal’s 4-3 win over Manchester City in the round of 16, he created more chances than any other player (5) and picked up an assist in a performance that displayed that he can still brush shoulders with the elite players in Europe.
His role here may be similar, but there is an added risk of Neves having to commit tactical fouls to stop the threat of Fluminense on the break. Neves has received one yellow card at the tournament so far which came in the opening game of the group stages against Real Madrid.
Neves picked up six yellow cards across his 26 Saudi Pro League appearances during the 24/25 season - only Hassan Al Tambakti (8) was shown more cards than Neves in the Al Hilal squad during the most recent campaign.
🔵 Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Milinkovic-Savic has had eight shots across his four games at the Club World Cup so far (1.85 per 90) with three of these attempts finding the target (0.69 per 90). He’s stepped into a more attacking role for Al Hilal at the Club World Cup under the new guidance of Simone Inzaghi as it allows the Saudi Pro League to have a physical threat in the box while Mitrovic recovers from an injury.
Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 goals and averaged 1.06 shots on target per 90 across his 31 appearances in the Saudi Pro League during the most recent campaign.

💻 Fluminense v Al Hilal Form and Tactics
Both of these sides caused upsets in their round of 16 ties and should not be underestimated. Fluminense put in a professional and defensively sound performance to see off Inter by a 2-0 scoreline, while Al Hilal had a far more chaotic encounte,r which eventually saw Simone Inzaghi’s side snatch a winner in extra time in possibly the biggest shock of the tournament so far.
Fluminense’s strength is certainly with their backline; they’ve kept three clean sheets across their four games at the Club World Cup, which includes shutouts against Inter and Dortmund, which shows that their defensive acumen still stands up to the test of European sides. Al Hilal will fancy their chances of breaking down this stubborn backline, especially with the momentum that striker Marcos Leonardo carries into this game, having netted a brace against Manchester City to guide his side through to the last eight.
Al Hilal have the advantage when it comes to individual quality, with their midfield in particular being a real point of strength, but Fluminense will have really grown in confidence having faced two European sides so far and avoiding defeat against both of them. Al Hilal have also avoided defeat against Manchester City and Real Madrid, so this could be set up for a tightly contested battle which may need penalties to decide a winner.
