Inter v Salernitana
🏟
Friday 4th March – 7:45PM KO
Inter are in the midst of their first genuine spell of bad form under Simone Inzaghi. The Nerazzurri have failed to score in their last four fixtures despite being Serie A’s leading scorers.Until recent weeks, there was an inevitably about Inter’s games. They will find a way to score, they always find a way to score.
That can’t be said anymore as the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko, Alexis Sanchez, and Hakan Calhanoglu have all struggled to reach their best form. It is likely that the run of tough games in close succession proved too much for the team and now Simone Inzaghi must find a way of breathing life back into the squad.
A game at San Siro against bottom of the table Salernitana could be exactly what Inter need. A calm win with improved performances from multiple key players would get a positive feeling back into the squad.
Salernitana have drawn their last four matches which is actually their best form of the season so far. If Inter can’t win this one, they’re in serious trouble when it comes to defending their Serie A crown.
Despite the very likely scenario of an Inter win, it does not feel like this team has it in them right now to put four or five past anyone. The Nerazzurri will look to take an early lead and then make sure that they take all three points and start building a run of form again.

Udinese v Sampdoria
🏟
Saturday 5th March – 2:00PM KO
This could be a huge game in the context of these two teams’ seasons. They are both hovering above the drop zone and if either team can take three points on Saturday, they can start to secure their Serie A status.
They are both on 26 points which is four more than Venezia who are in 18th place. It should be said that Udinese have played two games less than many of the teams around them so perhaps it is Sampdoria who need to go for the three points here.
Given the situation and the way in which both teams have played this season, it is very likely that this will be a cagey and low-scoring affair. Losing could see a sharp drop down the standings.Neither team can be described as free-scoring, although there are dangerous players in both squads. It depends who’s forwards are sharpest on the day as to who can take that golden chance when it comes along.
Sampdoria are in a very mixed patch of form that has included two wins front heir last five, but the other three games have all been defeats. Udinese’s form is also tough to judge. Their last win was a 2-0 triumph over Torino but that was followed by a 4-0 loss against Hellas Verona. Their last two games have been 1-1 draws with AC Milan and Lazio which suggests that defence has learnt from the heavy defeat in Verona

Roma v Atalanta
🏟
Saturday 5th March – 5:00PM KO
Both Roma and Atalanta have struggled for consistency lately. In fact, Roma have struggled for it all season.
Despite being unbeaten in the league since the dramatic defeat 4-3 against Juventus in January, three of the games in that unbeaten run have been draws against Sassuolo, Hellas Verona, and Genoa. For the first two, it took very late equalisers to avoid defeat.
Jose Mourinho’s side do still have a genuine shot at qualifying for the Champions League next season but in order to do so, they must beat Atalanta who are the team above them, sitting in fifth place. In terms of value for money, both these teams have been consistently worth watching this season. They both score a lot and they both concede a lot.
If both managers decide to try and take advantage of the defensive frailties of their opponent straight from the off, it could result in an end to end game with plenty of goals. Even without first-choice striker Duvan Zapata and the potential absence of Ruslan Malinkovskyi, Atalanta still find a way to score goals.
Roma should have their full cast of attacking options available, meaning Tammy Abraham, Nicolo Zaniolo, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and a host of talented youngsters like Edoardo Bove, Nicola Zalewski, and Christian Volpato, could all play a part.
There’s still the matter of ousting Juventus from fourth place but the chaotic nature of this Serie A season means that the winner of this game could build the momentum needed to qualify for the Champions League.

Cagliari v Lazio
🏟
Saturday 5th March – 7:45PM KO
Despite some very unimpressive and chaotic moments to their respective seasons, both of these teams are still relatively well placed to achieve their goals after a slight upturn in form.
Lazio had a very rough start under Maurizio Sarri and it has become clear that the coach is not content with the quality of his squad. That was not really addressed in the January transfer window but they still sit seven points behind fourth place.
At this stage of the season despite the size of that gap, they are certainly still in the conversation to finish fourth. The Biancocelesti were unfortunate to concede a late goal against Napoli last time out but they should have enough about them to get a win over Cagliari.
The Rossoblu have been in the relegation zone for most of the season but a recent upturn in form means they sit 17th and are unbeaten in their last five. They also beat Torino and Atalanta away from home in that run.
Despite the newfound confidence in the team, Lazio’s quality in attack with players like Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto should be too much to handle for Cagliari. Lazio should also be buoyed by the knowledge that at least one of Roma and Atalanta, the two teams above them, will be dropping points this weekend as they play against each other
