Gerwyn Price can get the better of Joe Cullen in round 3 at the World Darts Championship on Friday night. Price’s performances this year have been better than results suggest. That is evidenced by the fact that he has averaged a sizeable 97.01 across 2024 thus far. To put that into context, only 5 other players across the entire PDC have posted a higher average than Price this calendar year. Cullen, on the other hand, has averaged 90.46 since the turn of the year. While that return is not to be sniffed at, the Bradford-born dartist has suffered a dip in form in recent years. Although Cullen silenced some of his critics with a 3-0 win over Wessel Nijman, a round 3 showdown with former world champion Price will represent a major step up in class. That being said, Cullen could have some joy on the 180 front. ‘The Rockstar’ racked up 8 maximums when dispatching the aforementioned Nijman in round 2. What’s more, at this stage of the competition 12 months ago, Cullen crashed in 7 180s against Ryan Searle before going on to hit 12 against Luke Humphries in round 4.
