Wales are 1.53 favourites to win at Kazakhstan on Thursday afternoon, with the hosts priced at 6.50 to come out on top. Kazakhstan's price is understandable, given they've won just one of their last 15 international matches.

Wales to Win

There is much to like about Wales’ chances for a win here.

Whilst Wales have traditionally struggled on the road in qualification campaigns, this new regime led by Craig Bellamy will focus energies away from that kind of idea, and onto the performance and game style that they need to win this match.

Wales were comfortable and deserving winners of the match between the pair in March in Cardiff. Anything approaching that same standard here makes the price of a Wales win look very appealing.

Kazakhstan have been very weak in front of goal as well, Wales keeping a clean sheet here would obviously make their chances of winning exceptionally strong.

Over 2.5 Kazakhstan Corners

Whilst we are predicting a Welsh win here, the corner data suggests that Kazakhstan may be good for corners. Also, if Wales do get out to a good start on the scoreline and get ahead then there is every chance of game state dictating that Kazakhstan should earn more corners.

The Kazakhs have managed to win four or more corners in all three of their qualifiers so far, and in the friendly defeat to Belarus that occurred in the last international break as well. This included winning four at Cardiff in the reverse fixture as well. Look for them to win three corners at least here.

🟡 Kazakhstan Looking to Break Goalless Spell

There is a lot for Kazakh football to cheer about at the moment. Their club champions, Kairat Almaty, have achieved the very unlikely feat of reaching the league phase of the Champions League. This makes them only the second Kazakh club to achieve this feat, after Astana.

However, the success of the national team has not followed that same trajectory, and the main reason for their troubles has been a lack of goals.

They managed to score against Wales in the return leg of this tie through a penalty, but they have now scored in only two of their last 11 international fixtures. Wales play a more open and expansive style under Bellamy, but Kazakhstan need to take any chances that come their way.

🔴 Wales Breathing Fire Under Craig Bellamy

Bellamy may no longer be defending an unbeaten record, but their 3-4 defeat in Belgium last time out is only likely to add fuel to the fire.

As a player, Bellamy was renowned for his fiery temperament, and he seems to have found a way to harness this burning desire to win as a coach. The way that his Welsh team play mirrors that desire, with pressing and athleticism important to their style.

📊 Kazakhstan v Wales H2H

The only previous meeting between these two countries was the match in March of this year. The match at the Cardiff City Stadium was won comfortably by Wales 3-1, though Wales did score in the 90th minute to put the gloss on the scoreline.

The balance of play was strongly in Wales’ favour, with 72% possession and a strong open play xG advantage as well.
