Leeds are now top of the league following their Boxing Day win over Stoke, which adds into their likely position as the best overall team in the Championship so far.

Leeds sit top of the overall xGF and xGA totals for the season as a whole, which obviously puts them a class apart from Derby.

Derby are solid at home, but have a huge performance disadvantage, especially when trying to turn around a 2-0 defeat at Elland Road in which they only managed three shots vs 18 from Leeds in the whole match.

It feels unlikely that there will be a high scoring battle here, most of Leeds’ away matches, nine out of their 11 in the Championship, have ended under 2.5 goals.

Leeds tend to control their away matches, rather than blast teams away. Even when they don’t win, which we want them to do here, they keep the opposition down to less than two goals, only Swansea and Sunderland have bucked that trend this season.

Derby are now 10th for goals scored in the league, but it is difficult to see them creating many chances against Leeds, especially as the Rams are only 19th for xG created this season.

Despite likely rotation, one would expect Piroe to be given the nod again in the #9 role given his performance on Boxing Day.

He linked play around the box very nicely, and added two goals to his total, the first one being an especially well considered finish.

He is now averaging 0.65 goals per 90, so given his likelihood to play 70 minutes or more here, and Leeds’ predicted dominance, he is a fair price to find the net again here.
