Calvert-Lewin is Leeds’ top scorer in the Premier League this season with eight goals across just 12 starts in the top-flight. Seven of those goals have come across Calvert-Lewin’s last six matches in the Premier League - making him one of the in-form strikers in the division at the moment.

Calvert-Lewin has always had the talent to be a decent Premier League striker, but has been hindered by injuries in previous campaigns. If he can stay fit, then Leeds have a consistent source of goals that can aid them in their bid to survive this season. Calvert-Lewin has benefited from having a body next to him, with his positive form coinciding with Leeds switching to a 3-5-2 shape, which has been quite effective for them.

Calvert-Lewin has had 34 shots across his 12 starts in the Premier League this season (2.74 per 90) with 17 of those efforts finding the target (1.37 per 90). Calvert-Lewin had four shots in Leeds’ 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Elland Road a few weeks ago, with one of those efforts finding the target and ending up in the back of the net.

Konate has struggled for large periods of the season, but is starting to settle a little now alongside the rest of the Liverpool side after a turbulent start to their title defence. Konate has been left to cover too much space at times with how Liverpool like to play, and he’ll have to deal with Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin here.

Calvert-Lewin, in particular, is a real handful for any Premier League centre back due to his physicality, which helps Leeds get up the pitch. He caused Konate problems in their most recent meeting as the Frenchman was forced into committing two fouls from 10 duels in total - he was also fouled three times in the game, further displaying that his duel with Calvert-Lewin will be one to keep an eye on.

Konate has committed 21 fouls across his 18 Premier League appearances this season (1.24 per 90). This record is reflective of a centre back that is being asked to engage in 1v1 duels too often, with Konate regularly being forced to commit a foul to blunt transition attacks. 

This foul record has earned Konate four yellow cards in the Premier League this season, only Dominik Szoboszlai and Conor Bradley for Liverpool (five) have collected more cautions in the top-flight this term. It may be worth exploring Konate for a card here as well, or looking at foul involvement markets for both Konate and Calvert-Lewin.

Liverpool have picked up 33 yellow cards across their 18 Premier League matches this season (1.83 per game).

In the Reds' 3-3 draw at Elland Road earlier this month they committed 14 fouls and received three yellow cards. I’d expect a similar tally for Liverpool here, but we only need them to collect one caution for this bet to land. This is an incredibly low line, with Liverpool picking up at least one card in 15 of their 18 Premier League matches this season (83.3%).

The referee for this game is Chris Kavanagh, who has handed out 56 yellow cards across his 14 appointments in the Premier League this season (4.0 per game). There should be enough transitional moments for Liverpool to yield a card through tactical fouls. 

Liverpool look a lot more settled than they did a few weeks ago, with Arne Slot’s side coming into this game having won their last four matches across all competitions. 

This includes big wins on the road against Inter Milan and Tottenham, but also games at Anfield against Brighton and Wolves, which they were expected to win, but may have caused them more issues a few weeks ago.

Arne Slot is constantly tinkering with his system, but I think the main point of difference between these sides will be how poor Leeds are on the road. 

Daniel Farke’s side rely on the atmosphere and intensity of Elland Road quite often, three of their five matches in their recent unbeaten run have been at home - with the away matches being against Sunderland and Brentford.

Leeds have won just one of their nine away games in the Premier League this season, which was against Wolves - one of the worst teams we’ve ever seen in the Premier League. 

They’ve conceded 20 goals across their nine away matches, with only Burnley (24) and Bournemouth (27) letting in more goals than Farke’s side. Liverpool should be able to take advantage of this vulnerability on the road to register their fifth consecutive victory across all competitions. 

Szoboszlai missed Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves last time out after accumulating too many yellow cards. It wasn’t a bad game for Szobozlai to miss, as Liverpool comfortably navigated the majority of the game, but did miss the Hungarian at times, who has comfortably been Liverpool’s best player so far this season.

The only criticism which can be levelled at Szoboszlai is that he should have a better end product for the quality he has. He’s registered three goal contributions across his 17 Premier League starts this term, but is averaging 1.83 shots per 90 and 1.83 chances created per 90 in the Premier League this season.

Szoboszlai has scored two goals across his last five matches for Liverpool across all competitions, and notably is on free kick duties for the Reds, but also penalties in the absence of Mohamed Salah, who is away at AFCON. Szoboszlai took and scored a penalty against Inter Milan in the Champions League a few weeks ago.

This is a game where Liverpool are expected to have a lot of the ball and may need something special to break down what is sure to be a low block from Leeds. Szoboszlai has the ability to produce something special to find a way through a deep defensive low block, which Leeds are expected to go with.

Jaka Bijol is yet to pick up his first caution of the season from eight starts, but this game represents the perfect opportunity for the 26-year-old to pick up a yellow card. Bijol has been integrated into the side since Leeds moved to a back three, with Bijol operating as the central centre back in this system.

This sets up Bijol for a direct duel with Hugo Ekitike, who has been Liverpool’s most impactful summer signing so far and has won seven fouls across his 12 starts in the Premier League this season (0.60 per 90). These aren’t crazy numbers, but Ekitike can cause problems for Bijol here as he’s not the physical presence that Bijol usually thrives against.

Bijol likes contesting duels against physical and aggressive forwards, but Ekitike is a little more elusive than his opponents in the Premier League so far - and can drag Bijol into deeper pockets or wide areas where he can be left exposed. Bijol has committed eight fouls across his eight Premier League starts so far this season (1.01 per 90), showing that his aggression levels are there to warrant backing him for a caution here.

Bijol picked up 11 yellow cards and one red card across his 34 appearances in Serie A last term, so he is certainly due a booking having avoided one since breaking into the Leeds starting lineup.

Anton Stach is one of the best players in this Leeds side, and he’s shown that quality on a few occasions already this campaign with five goal contributions across his 15 starts.

Only Dominic Calvert-Lewin (eight) has registered more goal contributions for Leeds this season than Stach, highlighting just how influential he is for Daniel Farke’s side. This angle particularly catches my eye due to Stach’s role in shooting from free kicks for Leeds.

He’s taken four free kicks in the Premier League this season, with three of those efforts finding the target and two ending up in the back of the net from an xG of just 0.26. Leeds may be limited for chances here, so Stach’s ability on free kicks could prove to be a decent path to goal, with open play chances likely to be limited.

Stach has had 32 shots across his 15 starts in the Premier League this season (2.26 per 90) with eight of those efforts finding the target (0.57 per 90).
