Both Teams to Score @ 2.10

While I fully expect Celtic to take top honours on Sunday, I think a case can be made for Partick Thistle to contribute to the scoring. Mark Wilson’s men have made the net bulge in each of their 10 matches across all competitions this season, hitting multiple strikes in no fewer than eight of those contests, including each of their last four.

Yes, Celtic will obviously represent a serious step up in class for Thistle, however I suspect Brendan Rodgers could shuffle his pack here given that the Hoops have a midweek trip to Belgrade on the horizon. The Celtic boss took a similar approach in the previous round, and his side failed to keep a clean sheet when seeing off newly-promoted Falkirk at home.

Over 2.5 Celtic Goals @ 1.70

For all of Partick Thistle's good work in the final third this season, they have been leaking goals at a somewhat alarming rate. In fact, the Jags’ backline have failed to keep the back door shut in each of their five Scottish Championship outings this term, most notably shipping five goals away at St Johnstone on the opening weekend of the season. Raith Rovers have since scored two goals at Firhill, so Celtic should be more than capable of racking up at least three.

Brendan Rodgers' side hit four goals in the previous round against Falkirk, and they scored three times in a recent Scottish Premiership win over Livingston. I would argue that both of those teams are of a similar standard to that of Partick, making the visitors worthy of support to deliver over 2.5 team goals on Sunday afternoon.

🔴 Thistle in Fine Fettle

Partick Thistle will come into this quarter-final tie in high spirits having won each of their last four contests across all competitions. Mark Wilson’s men extended their winning run to four matches by staging a late comeback to claim a 2-1 win over Airdrie last Friday night.

While the Jags have been scoring relatively freely across the opening months of the season, they have found clean sheets hard to come by, failing to silence their opponents in six of their last seven outings in all competitions.

Partick Thistle have averaged 2.40 cards per game in this season’s Scottish Championship, and the hosts may have to revert to the dark arts here, given the calibre of opposition they will be coming up against this weekend.

🟢 Bhoys Get Back on Track

After playing out a 0-0 draw with Rangers at Ibrox before the international break, Celtic returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership with a 2-1 victory away at Kilmarnock on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers’ side made heavy weather of last weekend's win at Rugby Park, securing three points courtesy of a last-gasp and controversial penalty. That being said, the Hoops did win the xG battle 2.83 to 1.32, racking up 21 shots to Kilmarnock's 12.

Celtic have won the corner count in five of their six domestic matches this season, delivering 10 or more flag kicks in three of those contests.

The Bhoys’ backline have been given very little away this term, conceding a goal for the first time in this season's Scottish Premiership during last Sunday’s aforementioned 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

📊 Partick Thistle v Celtic H2H

Given that the two teams have not been in the Scottish Premiership together since the 2017/18 season, fixtures between Partick Thistle and Celtic have been few and far between in recent years. The pair last crossed paths in the Scottish Cup back in 2020, with Celtic running out 2-1 winners at Firhill on that occasion.

Celtic victories have been a running theme in this fixture for the last three decades, with Partick Thistle failing to take top honours against the Hoops since way back in 1995.
