Level 1 Bet Builder Tip
🏆 Sheffield Wednesday Double Chance
📈 Odds: 1.30
The most likely outcome here is a draw, but we’d like to have Sheffield Wednesday on side out of the two teams. Portsmouth have only won one game this season, whilst Wednesday have won or drawn six out of their 11 games.
The away side have won or drawn three of their last four games, with the one they lost being at home to second-place Burnley, which was an even game settled by defensive errors.
Pompey cannot consider themselves unlucky in terms of only registering one win, only winning the xG battle in two of their games. They failed to score or create the better chances at home against Luton, who had 10 men for two-thirds of the game.
🩹 Marvin Johnson to be Fouled 1+ Times
📈 Odds: 1.17
Left wing-back Marvin Johnson should have plenty to space to operate in down that side, as Callum Lang tends to roam inside from the right. Johnson has created 2.1 chances per 90 this season, the highest of any Wednesday player, so John Mousinho is sure to have a plan in place to try and stop him, by fair means or foul.
Johnson draws 1.58 fouls per 90. If Lang does track him back, he averages 1.6 fouls per 90. Marlon Pack could move across from his right central midfield berth to try and stop Johnson, and he averages two fouls per 90. Jordan Williams, who has been playing right back, has the most cards of any Portsmouth player with four but was substituted with a knock in the week.
🛑 Marlon Pack to Commit 1+ Fouls
📈 Odds: 1.17
Experienced midfielder Pack has started every game for Pompey this season, a key cog in Mousinho’s machine in the centre of midfield. Not only does he create close to two chances per 90, he is also tasked with breaking up attacks.
As touched upon in the previous selection, he averages two fouls per 90, and is likely to be in the vicinity of Wednesday’s two most creative players in Johnson and Barry Bannan, as well as Djeidi Gassama if he plays, who draws 3.39 fouls per 90.
🎯 Callum Lang to have 1+ Shots on Target
📈 Odds: 1.72
The wide forward is undoubtedly Pompey’s biggest goal threat, and one of the best attackers in the Championship so far this term. He has the second-highest xG per 90 of any player who has played more than half the available minutes (550) this season, behind Josh Maja.
He is 13/5 to score anytime and 6/4 to score or assist, but our preferred bet here is for Lang to have 1+ shot on target at 4/5 – he currently averages 0.9 per 90.

Level 2 Bet Builder Tip
🏆 Match Result – Draw
📈 Odds: 2.75
After two early pastings on the road in the Championship, Wednesday have attempted to keep their last three away games right, with one draw and two decided by the odd goal in relatively even games. They also drew their last home game, which was a fairly tepid encounter against Swansea, with neither side registering over 1 xG.
Portsmouth have drawn five of their 11 games, whilst their only win also came in a pretty even game. They struggle to score at home, just twice this term but have kept two clean sheets from five games.
🥅 Both Teams to Score
📈 Odds: 1.65
The home side have conceded over two goals per game on average in the Championship, Whilst Wednesday are also conceding over a goal a game. Portsmouth are without first-choice goalkeeper Will Norris through injury, and stand-in keeper Nicolas Schmid had to leave the field early on Tuesday night following a blow to the head.
This is an important game for the home side, being possibly the easiest home fixture they have had so far. The crowd will be up for it and fancy their chances of seeing their first home three points of the season.
⚽ Callum Lang to Score or Assist
📈 Odds: 2.40
If you fancy Portsmouth to score, as we do, then Lang is likely to be involved. He has four goals and one assist in the Championship this season, meaning he has directly contributed to over 45% of his team’s goals this season. He is also Pompey’s penalty taker, and they have been awarded the joint most (three) of any side in the league.
Lang averages 2.9 shots per 90, 0.9 of which were on target. His xG per 90 is 0.56.
🛑 Marlon Pack to Commit 2+ Fouls
📈 Odds: 1.50
Experienced midfielder Pack has started every game for Pompey this season, a key cog in Mousinho’s machine in the centre of midfield. Not only does he create close to two chances per 90, but he is also tasked with breaking up attacks.
As touched upon in the previous selection, he averages two fouls per 90 and is likely to be in the vicinity of Wednesday’s two most creative players in Johnson and Barry Bannan, as well as Djeidi Gassama if he plays, who draws 3.39 fouls per 90.
