DELIUS appears to have excellent claims, in what looks like a weak renewal of this prestigious Group One prize. The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained three-year-old Frankel colt is a dual winner over 1m4f (including a Group Three success) and shaped encouragingly in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris in July.
He came home strongly for third that day and built on the placing last weekend, finishing second in the G2 Prix Niel. He has under two lengths to find with Sosie but could turn the form around, granted a stronger pace to aim at and softer ground conditions. The bay is certainly a strong contender for his trainer, who won last season’s race with Ace Impact.

LOOK DE VEGA must be seriously considered, despite a modest effort in the G2 Prix Niel. He attempted to make all of the running that day, on a first attempt at the 1m4f journey.
The impressive French Derby winner is capable of firmly bouncing back, with that effort under belt, especially with his three-year-old weight allowance. He is likely to be sharper for this huge target, with his trainer reporting that he wasn’t at his ‘racing weight’ last weekend.
It would be folly to dismiss his claims, for his powerful owners, who are no strangers to Arc triumph, having landed the prestigious prize in 2014 with the wonder mare Treve.

SHIN EMPORER holds outstanding each-way potential in the Arc, bidding to become a historic first Japanese-trained winner. His credentials were firmly displayed in Ireland last weekend, keeping on strongly to take third over 1m2f, in the G1 Irish Champion Stakes.
Trainer, Yoshito Yahagi reported the son of Siyouni to only be 80% fit for the race, which bodes well for his chances in Paris next month. He is bred to be an Arc winner, as a brother to 2020 scorer Sottsass, and has scope to improve for the rise in trip.
