Serhou Guirassy to have 1+ Shots on Target

Guirassy has been one of Dortmund’s standout performers at the Club World Cup, scoring three goals in his four appearances so far. Across these matches, he has taken 17 shots, averaging 4.41 per 90 minutes, with 10 of those efforts on target (2.59 per 90). This means an impressive 58% of his attempts in the competition have tested the goalkeeper.

During the 24/25 Bundesliga season, Guirassy scored 21 goals in 30 appearances, averaging 1.28 shots on target per 90 minutes. He was equally prolific in the Champions League, netting 13 times in 14 games while averaging 2.16 shots on target per 90. These statistics highlight his ability to consistently hit the target for Dortmund, as well as the reliable service he receives from his team-mates.

When these two sides met in the Champions League group stage back in October, Real Madrid secured a 5-2 victory. Guirassy managed one shot on target in that match.

Both Teams to Score

Dortmund have seen both teams score in two of their four matches at the Club World Cup, including their most recent game against Monterrey. They edged past the Mexican side 2-1 in the Round of 16, with Guirassy netting both goals to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid have also seen both teams score in two of their four fixtures in the competition, and this clash is likely to be their toughest test yet under Xabi Alonso. Both sides possess plenty of attacking threat, with Guirassy already scoring three times at the tournament, taking his season tally to 37 goals in 49 appearances. Meanwhile, Gonzalo García has proven to be a reliable backup for Los Blancos, also contributing three goals at the Club World Cup.

Notably, the last two meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the net, suggesting another high-scoring encounter could be on the cards.

Real Madrid Goalkeeper to Make 2+ Saves

Courtois was forced into making five saves in the most recent meeting between the sides with Dortmund managing seven shots on target in the game overall, as they collapsed to a 5-2 loss after initially establishing a two-goal lead.

Courtois has been pretty busy at this tournament as well, making 16 saves across his four games at the Club World Cup (4.00 per 90) with a save percentage of 88.9%. Not only does this confirm that Courtois is a world class shot-stopper, it also suggests that Real Madrid still have some work to do to sort out their backline as they are too reliant on their keeper at present to keep opponents at bay.

Vinicius Junior to Score or Assist

Vinicius Jr has a strong record against Dortmund, highlighted by his performances in their recent Champions League meetings. In their last encounter during the group stage, he scored a hat-trick, further cementing his reputation as a key threat. He also found the net against them in the Champions League final back in June 2024, proving his ability to deliver in big moments.

The Brazilian winger has already made an impact at this Club World Cup, contributing two goals (one goal and one assist) in the competition so far. Given his past success against Dortmund, he will be confident of adding to that tally in this quarter-final clash.

With his pace, skill, and knack for decisive contributions, Vinicius Jr will once again be a player Dortmund must contain. His track record suggests he could play a pivotal role in determining the outcome of this match.

Vinicius Junior to be Shown a Card

As well as netting a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 5-2 win over Dortmund back in October 2024, Vinicius Jr also committed two fouls and was shown a yellow card. This is an aspect of his game that he’s been attempting to stamp out, but the eight yellow cards and one red card he received during the 24/25 LaL iga campaign would suggest that it’s still a pretty active part of his game.

Vinicius Jr has received one caution at the Club World Cup so far which came in the opening game against Al Hilal. No Real Madrid player received more yellow cards during the 24/25 La Liga campaign than Vini Jr, which highlights how high the chances are of the Brazilian becoming frustrated and testing the patience of the referee.

Real Madrid to Qualify

Real Madrid are looking more organised with each game under Xabi Alonso and this was evident in their 1-0 victory over Juventus, which was a style of victory that the Galacticos haven’t been able to produce for the last year. Xabi Alonso implemented a tactical tweak at half time to help Los Blancos get over the line which they eventually did thanks to a strike from Gonzalo Garcia.

Real Madrid have the attacking quality to really put pressure on Dortmund as they have done in each of the last two head-to-head meetings, which have both been won by Real Madrid.
