Kuressaare v Tallinna Kalev
🏟
Saturday 14th May – 5:30PM KO
Kuressaare come into this game vs Kalev perhaps with a bit of caution, after being out played in a shock 3-1 defeat to Parnu last week, Kure will be looking to put things right against a struggling Kalev side.
While 99.9% of people were expecting Levadia to put 6 or 7 past Kalev last week, Kalev held on to beyond the 80th minute and only a dubious penalty decision cost them in what would be a 1-0 defeat for them. It was only the 3rd game all season where a Tallinna Kalev game hasn’t achieved O2.5 goals.
These 2 teams last faced off in March and Kuressaare saw Kalev off comfortably in a 3-0 win, with striker Mattias Mannilaan scoring a very impressive 4-minute hattrick, since then – Mannilaan has only scored 1 goal in his last 7 games and Kure as a team have struggled to take chances only scoring 3 goals in the last 3 games with all 3 goals being scored in fortunate circumstances.
Tallinna Kalev’s last 3 games have been against very tough opposition in Flora, Paide and Levadia conceding 12 goals and scoring 2. Sitting bottom of the league with just 4 points after 12 games, Kalev really needs to start collecting points and fast. The next 5 fixtures could be favourable. Coming up against a Kuressaare side who despite having 3 wins from 4 are lacking any real team cohesion – Kalev might just fancy themselves. The problem is scoring goals, Kalev relies heavily on counter-attacking football and personally, a different game plan might be needed in this one for Kalev to come away with all 3 points. Star winger Ioan Yakovlev will be missing through suspension so the main threat on the counter is not there.
The bet for this game is Kuressaare to win – despite the shock defeat to Parnu last week, I still think Kure have the quality to see off a Kalev side lacking in confidence and missing their most attacking and exciting winger in Yakovlev.

Levadia v Paide
🏟
Sunday 15th May – 3:15PM KO
Levadia come into this game following a 1-0 win against the Meistriliiga rock bottom side, Tallinna Kalev, in what could be called a disappointing performance despite picking up all 3 points. A game in which Levadia were expected to win by comfortable 3 or 4 goals, it took a controversial Beglarisvili penalty to wrap up the game late on.
Meanwhile, Paide come into this game after a cup and league double header with Flora Tallinn, drawing both games 0-0, albeit progressing into the cup final after winning the penalty shootout. A most recent outing in the league, was a terrible game to watch, with Paide never really looking likely to score despite Flora playing all of the 2nd half with 10 men. Paide were also fortunate to escapee the game with a point, with Aksalu saving a Zenjov penalty mid way through the 2nd half.
There’s no doubt that both teams have immense attacking threat, with both teams more than capable of scoring a lot of goals. Paide have scored an impressive 16 goals in their last 5 league games, whilst Levadia have scored 9.
Levadia will certainly want to start asserting the dominance they showed last season, with 3 of their last 5 league wins coming with a 1-0 score line, something fans of Estonian football are not used to seeing.
The last 2 meetings between these sides have seen Levadia come out on top with a 1-0 victory in both games, and Bogdan Vastsuk being the match winner including a 93rd minute winner in the most recent outing.
With league leaders Flora not playing this weekend, Levadia will be hoping to go level on points with a victory, whilst Paide, who currently sit 12 points off the top, will be looking to close the gap with 3rd placed Kalju, who are in cup action this weekend.
