Werder Bremen v Fortuna Dusseldorf (Bundesliga 2)

Werder are the favourites for this match, the relegated yet promotion candidates are in 7^th place and trail 3^rd ranked HSV by just one point.  Werder have won three straight and are likely booking their fourth win on the trot against a struggling Düsseldorf.

Düsseldorf have won just one out of their last seven league games. This was a good away win over Darmstadt, but it was a bit of an odd one out as they won 3-1 yet scored a maximum of 1 goal in the other six of their most recent seven played. They also suffered three 1-0 defeats. Düsseldorf also have a few players who are out due to Covid-19; Hartherz, Iyoha, Klaus, Oberdorf, Prib and Wolf are all out.

Earlier in the season, Werder also managed to beat Düsseldorf away from home, in a 3-2 full time result. Recently appointed Ole Werner has managed to book three wins in a row, the streak started upon his arrival and I think it is very likely that he will manage a fourth win here as well.

Nurnberg v Paderborn (Bundesliga 2)

FC Nürnberg face off against SC Paderborn in which could be a game that could go either way. Nürnberg are having a good season so far, Paderborn are doing OK. Nürnberg sit in 5^th place and have collected 30 points in total, equal to HSV who are in 3^rd place with the same amount of points.

Paderborn are in ninth, but they trail their opponent by just three points. Nurnberg’s home record has been reasonable overall, winning 5, and drawing and losing twice. They have, however lost two of their last three home games. Paderborn are quite the sensation away from home and lead the league if we look solely at away records. They remain undefeated so far, booking 5 wins away from home and drawing thrice. They’ve allowed a league best 7 goals against and have drawn two straight, scoring and allowing just one goal. Paderborn lately haven’t exactly been the team to score many goals, as they were involved in six games in a row with less than 3.5 goals and four of which were less than 2.5. Their goal difference in these six games is five goals for and six goals against. We could be in for another low scoring match here, as Nürnberg scored more than twice once in their last seven league games played.

Paderborn are likely only without Jamilu Collins, who is featuring for Nigeria in the Africa Cup. Nürnberg are down a few more players, as Kilian Fischer, Florian Hübner and Felix Lohkemper are out.

Darmstadt vs Karlsruher SC (Bundesliga 2)

I also see Darmstadt winning here. They are in second place and keeping their promotion and title aspirations high, facing off against mid-table, 10^th ranked, Karlsruher SC. Darmstadt have won six of their last seven, only interrupted by a surprise defeat to Düsseldorf. Darmstadt lead the league in goals scored, with a total of 41. Philip Tietz (12) and Luca Pfeiffer (11) have combined for 23 of those.

Karlsruher SC’s away record is not bad, but not spectacular with two wins, three draws and three. In all their away efforts, with the exception of the game against Sandhausen in match round 3. They have allowed 13 goals in their 7 remaining away games played.

In squad news, manager Torsten Lieberknecht should be able to field an entirely fit squad. Karlsruher are not so lucky, as they miss the injured Batmaz, Bormuth, Choi, Jensen, Jung and Löhr. Tim Breithaupt faces a suspension after collecting 5 yellow cards.

Kaiserslautern vs Meppen (3. Liga)

Both sides have been performing well this season, with Kaiserslautern in sixth place and Meppen in a surprising third place. Kaiserslautern have won 9 of their 20 games, drew 6 and lost 5. Both sides are missing quite a few players; with Kaiserslautern manager Mario Antwerpen having to possibly miss 10 players; including Ciftci, Röser, Sessa and Zimmer. Meppen are without five players, as Egerer, Fedl, Frommann, Käuper and Leugers are unavailable.
