Perth Glory v Brisbane Roar
🏟
Sunday 20th February – 5:05AM KO
The bottom two sides in the A-League clash clash on Sunday with both hoping for the win that will spark their season into life. Perth Glory earned a point last time out, drawing 1-1 with Central Coast in what was just their eighth game of the season. Brisbane Roar didn’t even manage to gain a point in midweek, falling to a 3-0 defeat to Wellington Phoenix and they remain just three points ahead of Perth but having played three games more.
Perth Glory haven’t enjoyed this season so far with Covid restrictions leaving their campaign stunted and lacking consistency. They have played less games than anyone else in the league, halting any momentum they gain and this has left them bottom of the league and seven points off the top six. They have scored, and conceded, at a rate of less than a goal a game with their matches averaging just 1.8 goals this season.
Brisbane Roar have also suffered from a lack of consistency with the side being unable to translate some good home form to results on the road. They have the third best home record in the league, having taken 10 points from a possible 15, but have just one point from six games away from home. This has seen them unable to build any form and leaves them second bottom in the league. They’ve scored an average of a goal a game but have conceded 16 times in 11 outings, with their defensive issues being highlighted in recent defeats to Wellington, Newcastle and Adelaide.
This game pits the two worst sides in the league so far together and things don’t look promising for an entertaining clash with both sides averaging around a goal a game. That does make the under 2.5 goal market look more appealing however and we think that a lack of goals could lead to plenty of profit from this game.

Western United v Western Sydney Wanderers
🏟
Sunday 20th February – 7:45AM KO
Western United will be looking to regain their place at the top of the league after Melbourne City leapfrogged them on Friday. United secured a 1-1 draw away to Sydney FC last time out, extending their unbeaten run to four games. Western Sydney Wanderers went one better with a 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory putting them back into Finals Series contention.
Western United have enjoyed a great season so far, sitting top of the league for the most part and just nine times, the lowest total in the league. They have gone four games without a loss now, including impressive wins over Melbourne City and Western Sydney, their opponents this weekend. Their defensive record has been the real highlight for the side and they have become adept at seeing out games, winning six of their 11 matches by a 1-0 scoreline.
Western Sydney have struggled to achieve consistency so far this season, winning three and losing five. They have performed well in the final third, scoring the same amount as Western United, but have conceded seven goals more, leaving them trailing in the race for a top six finish. They will need to improve defensively to climb into the playoff places but, with just four points picked up away from home so far this season, a match against one of the strongest sides in the league doesn’t look like the place to start.
Western United sit at better than evens coming into this match and that seems like fantastic value for a side that has won four out of five matches so far this season. Western Sydney lack consistency and it seems quite likely that the home side will come out of the weekend with another victory.
