I’m a Mansfield Town season ticket holder who runs the @MTFCMusings X account. I have appeared across many fan podcasts previewing Mansfield Town games, as well as Gab Suttons EFL Debate.

In this article...

This is a meeting of two sides who have made decent starts to the season, with just one place separating them in 11th and 10th. Both will be hopeful that they can sustain a play-off challenge this term.

Match Result - Draw

An unbeaten home side against an unbeaten away side should make for an intriguing encounter, but I’m opting for both sides to remain unbeaten at the end of this game, by backing the draw.

Each of these teams struggle to create goalscoring opportunities. Swansea have created the fewest ‘big chances’ in the Championship, averaging just one per game, and have the second fewest touches in the opposition box. Millwall are slightly better, with a decent xG ranking of 10th, but 4th fewest shots on target per match, suggesting they’re getting into good position but struggling to take chances.

With both sides strong defensively, I think we could see a stalemate, available at nice odds of 3.20.

Over 3.5 Total Cards

We could be in for a feisty encounter here, both sides are really strong and competitive, therefore, I’m going for over 3.5 match cards. This has landed in four of six Swansea games, and five of six Millwall games so far this season.

Millwall commit the most fouls per game in The Championship, averaging 14.3 per game, whilst Swansea are the fifth most fouled team. Swansea’s total of 16 cards is only beaten by two sides, Derby and Southampton.

  • Swansea are unbeaten at home in the league this term, with one win and two draws. They also have the 7th lowest xGA in the Championship.

  • Milwall are unbeaten away from home in the league so far, with two wins and one draw.

  • Under 2.5 goals is being offered at 1.57, whilst over 2.5 goals is 2.38 - a low scoring encounter is expected.

Swans Stubborn Under Sheehan

Swansea are unbeaten at home in the Championship after three games, with one win and two draws. They haven’t faced the strongest of opponents so far at The Liberty Stadium, with none of the sides they have faced having recorded an away win.

It’s been a mixed bag overall, with two wins, two draws and two losses, but overall, The Swans look more solid under Sheehan than they have under the last few managers, with the 7th lowest xGA in the Championship.

They also have a striker in form in Zan Vipotnik, who looked to be heading out the door in the summer, but has turned perceptions around with some powerful finishes. He has three goals to his name so far, with him and Ronald scoring all of Swansea’s six goals between them.

🔵 Millwall Moving On Up

Taking points gained in 2025 as a whole, only Coventry and Bristol City have accumulated more than Alex Neil’s Millwall. They made a late surge for the play-offs towards the end of last season, but ultimately missed out by two points, and will hope to go a couple of points better this time around.

They’ve started well on the road, with two wins and a draw, which is as well as any other team in the league has done.

Like their hosts, they are a solid defensive side, with the 5th best xGA, and they like to press high up the pitch, as shown by having the 4th best numbers for possession won in the final third.

📊 Swansea v Millwall H2H

These two sides have competed in The Championship since 2018, with the record standing at: Six Swansea wins, three draws, five Millwall wins.

Millwall have won the last three meetings between the two sides, all by a 1-0 scoreline.
