Halmstad vs Skovde
🏟
Sunday 4th September – 12:00PM KO
Following relegation from the Swedish Allsvenskan last season, Halmstad retained the services of manager Magnus Haglund and they were expected to mount a serious and sustained title challenge to immediately return back to the top-flight.
They have been very impressive throughout the season and remain at the top of the Superettan table but the home team have stumbled in recent weeks.
The hosts come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to their closest challengers Brommapojkarna last weekend and, due to Taulant Parallangaj’s 31st minute red card, they will be without the 20 year-old defender for this clash.
That loss means they have collected just one point in their last two games as their lead at the top-of-the-table has been cut to just four points. However, they remain the strongest team in the league with the most goals scored, 48, and fewest goals conceded, 20, highlighting how good they are for this level.
They now face a Skovde side that continue to flirt with the top three and potential promotion to the elite tier of Swedish football.
The visitors come into this on the back of an inconsistent run of form, though, and their Swedish Cupen second round tie against Stockholm Internazionale during the midweek, follows a run of just two wins in their last eight matches in the league.
Despite being more than capable of causing an upset, as well as the fact they will still see a run to the top three as more than a possibility in their remaining games, Halmstad are unlikely to be overly troubled by Skovde and should return to winning ways.

Orebro vs Norrby
🏟
Sunday 4th September – 2PM KO
This is not a match that is expected to be overly fascinating for the neutral to watch, with both sides among the lowest scorers in the Superettan this season.
Orebro come into this on the back of a trip to Vasalunds in the second round of the Svenska Cupen during the midweek. That cup tie followed a 2-1 win away at Utsiktens in their most recent league outing, last weekend.
The home team have endured an inconsistent run of form of late, though, and had been winless in their previous five second division matches, since a victory over the aforementioned Utsiktens but at home that time.
Their record smacks of mid-table mediocrity and that is where they sit in the table. This will disappoint the club and its supporters because, after finishing last season so well, they would’ve hoped for a genuine tilt at the top three and a potential promotion.
They now face a Norrby side that come into this on the back of a much-needed 2-1 win at home to AFC Eskilstuna before their trip to Lunds in the cup during the midweek.
The visitors had been winless in seven Superettan matches before that important win against AFC last weekend and they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just a couple of points above Jonkopings Sodra, who occupy the relegation playoff spot.
Only two teams, the bottom two teams Dalkurd and Osterund, have scored fewer goals than Orebro’s 22 and Norrby have managed to notch just 23 times. Given that, as well as their fairly poor form in the last month or so, before their respective victories last weekend, this one is expected to be a fairly cagey and tight affair.

Brage vs Utsiktens
🏟
Monday 5th September – 6PM KO
This is a game between two teams that are in very different form and that form could well affect their general ambitions and goals for the rest of this Superettan season.
Brage, under the management of Kleber Saarenpaa, finished last season firmly in the middle-of-the-table but, this time around, they are gunning for a top three spot and potential promotion back into the Swedish top-flight; for the first time since 1993.
They finished the 2021 campaign impressively with three successive victories and entered this season with a high level of ambition. Now they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third, just above Osters on goal difference, and in the Allvsenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff.
Their 3-0 hammering of struggling Dalkurd last weekend ended a concerning three-match winless run and should focus their minds on finishing the season strongly.
One team that shouldn’t but might well be looking over their shoulder at a dramatic drop down the table is their upcoming opponents, Utsiktens.
The visitors come into this on the back of a Svenska Cupen second round trip to Vastra Frolunda that follows a 2-1 loss at home to Orebro last weekend. That 2-1 defeat has extended their winless run of form to nine matches.
A nine-match losing streak in what is a 30-game domestic season is, quite obviously, potentially catastrophic and Utsiktens, despite sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table, are only five points above Jonkopings Sodra in the relegation playoff spot.
Given that, as well as Brage’s return to form last weekend and now their home advantage, this one does appear to be a bit of a formality.

Prediction: Brage to Win, 2.30 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Dalkurd vs Brommapojkarna
🏟
Monday 5th September – 6PM KO
This is, quite simply one, one of the most one-sided games in the Swedish Superettan throughout the entire season and the end result should be one of the simpler bets… SHOULD! Despite both of these teams being promoted to the second-tier last season, they have enjoyed and endured very different campaigns.
Dalkurd come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Brage in their most recent outing, last weekend. That loss was their fourth successive defeat as they languish down at the bottom end of the table.
Ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, they sit 15th in the table and just three above bottom-of-the-table Ostersund. The hosts are in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places, three points adrift of Jonkopings Sodra in the playoff spot.
Now they face one of the stories of the season in Brommapojkarna who, under the management of Christer Mattiasson, are mounting a serious automatic promotion challenge; and even, maybe, are having a tilt at the title.
The visitors come into this on the back of a 2-1 win against previously runaway league leaders Halmstad last weekend, closing the gap at the top-of-the-table to just four points with nine games to go.
That impressive victory was Brommapojkarna’s fifth successive win and extended their unbeaten run of form to nine matches. Their relentless run of form has seen them open up a four point gap on Brage in third place and the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation end of season playoff.
As it stands they are steamrolling their way to an unlikely and unexpected consecutive promotion and Dalkurd, in horrible form, are unlikely to provide a stumbling block.
