Tottenham welcome Man City, with Thomas Frank’s side running out 2-0 winners in the initial league meeting between the sides - that is still the only defeat that Man City have suffered at home this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to cut the gap to Arsenal at the top of the league which currently sits at four points, following the Gunners failing to win in any of their last three Premier League matches.

📈 Tottenham v Man City Form & Tactics

Tottenham’s form in the Champions League is probably the only reason why Thomas Frank still has a job at the moment. Spurs have been borderline awful at times this season, especially at home, where they’ve only won two of their 11 league matches - only Wolves (1) have won fewer home games in the Premier League.

It’s also worth noting that Tottenham are only eight points clear of the drop zone, so it isn’t out of the question that we see Tottenham roped into the relegation scrap, if their poor form persists.

I think Frank is struggling to give this side an identity, they haven't won in their last six matches domestically and sides continually find a way to unlock the Tottenham backline, they’ve conceded 2+ goals in each of their last four matches domestically.

This marks the beginning of a very difficult run of fixtures for Spurs, with Frank’s men taking on Man United, Newcastle and Arsenal after this clash. This could be the run of fixtures which spells the end for Frank.

Tottenham may be afforded some relief here when looking at their home record against Man City - they are Guardiola’s bogey side and prior to the two recent City wins in North London, Tottenham won the previous four meetings as the home side.

City qualified for the top eight in the Champions League during the week as they saw off Galatasaray 2-0. Guardiola looks to be encouraged by Arsenal’s recent faltering form, and this is usually the point in the season where his side turn on the afterburners. I don’t think I've seen a better manager in a title race scenario than Guardiola, he plays intense mind games and the timing of his comments to unnerve opponents is second to none.

Even though Arsenal have a four point advantage at the top of the Premier League, it feels as though Man City are the side with momentum right now. City have had a recent blip with defeats against Man United and Bodo/Glimt, but have responded well to win their last two games, and they enter this game as favourites to take all three points.

📔Tottenham v Man City Formation & Team News

Tottenham could line up in a 3-4-3 shape here, which is a system that Frank has been experimenting with recently, and also is the shape that earned Tottenham their 2-0 win over City earlier in the season. Porro and Spence were key in that game as wide outlets, with Tottenham looking to switch the ball between them as often as possible.

Solanke has also returned to fitness at a key time for Frank, as Richarlison has picked up a fresh injury and is expected to miss this clash. Tottenham do still have quite a lengthy injury list with the likes of Kudus, Kulusevski, Maddison, Bergvall and Davies all expected to be sidelined here.

What is notable about this injury list is how many of them are creative players, Tottenham have been struggling with quality chance creation all season, and it’s not that surprising when looking at the players that have been unavailable.

Man City will continue in their 4-1-4-1 shape with Guardiola still missing Dias and Gvardiol at the back. The addition of Marc Guehi has eased the effect of losing both of City’s starting centre backs, but there is still a slight weakness in that part of the side that Tottenham can look to exploit.

Erling Haaland is also in his worst vein of form since joining Man City, with the Norwegian only netting one goal across his last six matches - though this strike did come against Galatasaray during the week.

📊 Tottenham v Man City Key Stats

  • Tottenham have won just two of their 11 home games in the Premier League this season.

  • Man City have only drawn two of their 11 away games in the Premier League.

  • Tottenham have not won in their last six games domestically.

  • Man City have won to nil on their last two trips to North London, but lost the four previous meetings without scoring.
