The Willie Mullins-trained Energumene may have a slight question mark to answer after his modest third place when a short-priced favorite in the Grade 1 Clarence House Chase in January. He could certainly bounce back to his best at this track, having landed the 2022 renewal with a powerful eight-and-a-half length victory. A versatile type regarding conditions, he has eight chase wins from 10 outings, including four Grade 1 successes over fences. 25-1 for him to return to winning ways is a huge price for punters with a forgiving nature.

Editeur Du Gite and Gentleman De Mee are likely to set a fierce gallop, which will play to Edwardstone’s strength. Preference is for Edwardstone out of the big two in the line-up, where William Hill are offering an enhanced boost on either to win this year’s Champion Chase.
