Dumbarton v Banks O´Dee Tips

I think Dumbarton offer value to get the better of Banks O’ Dee on Saturday afternoon.

The Sons look like they’re beginning to pick up a bit of form, having won each of their last two matches. 

They claimed an impressive 3-0 home win over Spartans last weekend before seeing off Kilmarnock’s B team 3-2 in midweek.

Frank McKeown’s side have been particularly strong at home this term, winning three of their four matches in Scottish League Two.

As for Banks O’ Dee, they have already suffered a couple of heavy defeats in this season’s Challenge Cup, losing 4-0 away at Ross County and 5-1 at home to Peterhead. 

They also come into this clash off the back of a 3-0 defeat away at Forres Mechanics last weekend, which only adds to the appeal of siding with the Sons.

Queen of the South have made a miserable start to the season and face a potential banana skin against Rangers B team on Saturday.

The Doonhamers are currently propping up the Scottish League One table, having picked up just four points from their opening eight matches. 

Most notably, they had eight put past them by Ross County less than two weeks ago.

Nicky Clark’s side have since been thumped 4-1 away at Hamilton, while they were held to a 1-1 draw by Annan in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.

Rangers B team will certainly sense an opportunity to cause an upset, especially after turning over Clyde away from home in the Challenge Cup in midweek. 

That 2-1 victory means both teams have scored in three of the young Gers’ four matches in this competition this season.

A repeat looks worth siding with at Palmerston Park against a Queen of the South side that is clearly short on confidence.

I think Cove Rangers’ superior class will tell against Aberdeen’s B team on Saturday afternoon.

It’s been a tricky start to the season for Paul Hartley’s hosts, but they should be feeling better about themselves after claiming a thumping 5-0 win away at Fraserburgh in the Challenge Cup in midweek.

In fact, Cove have done the majority of their best work this season in this competition, having also defeated Dumbarton and Dundee United’s B team. 

The latter should represent a similar standard of opposition to Aberdeen’s under-21 side on Saturday afternoon.

The young Dons fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Highland League side Banks O’ Dee in midweek. 

Cove Rangers will pose a far sterner test, which is why I’m siding with the hosts here.

Both Cowdenbeath and Clyde have yet to get off the mark in this season’s Challenge Cup, but I have more faith in the visitors, which is why I’m backing Clyde in the draw no bet market.

Despite their struggles in this competition, the Bully Wee sit top of Scottish League Two with five wins and just one defeat from their opening eight games. 

Therefore, Darren Young’s side look well placed to get the better of Cowdenbeath, who are languishing in 11th place in the Scottish Lowland League. 

What’s more, the Blue Brazil have already lost at home to both Kilmarnock’s B team and East Kilbride in the Challenge Cup over the past month or so, further strengthening the case for keeping Clyde onside here.

I’m expecting plenty of goalmouth action when Stranraer face East Kilbride in the Scottish Challenge Cup on Saturday.

That was certainly the case for the hosts in midweek, as they come into this clash off the back of a 3-2 defeat away at Berwick. 

In fact, goal-heavy games have been commonplace for the Blues recently, with seven of their last eight matches across all competitions producing over 2.5 goals. 

It’s also worth noting that over 2.5 goals has landed in all four of Stranraer’s Challenge Cup games this season, and with one of the country’s most attack-minded outfits up next, there’s plenty of scope for that trend to continue. 

East Kilbride are no strangers to high-scoring shootouts themselves, most recently playing out a barnstorming 3-3 draw with Celtic’s B side in midweek.

On top of that, each of the visitors’ other three Challenge Cup assignments this season has featured four or more goals, while six of their opening eight games in Scottish League One have broken the over 2.5 goal barrier.
