SDS reached the final four of Baller League in the most dramatic fashion. Only a draw between VZN FC and Santan FC on the final day would have guaranteed progression for SDS, an outcome that looked unlikely considering there had only been a handful of draws during the whole league format.

The game was 1-1 heading into the final stages but VZN FC scored just as the buzzer went for the full time whistle, after a review the goal was disallowed and SDS qualified despite the odds stacked against them. However, they’ll face a tough challenge here against Deportrio who topped the league phase with seven wins from their 11 games in the competition.

The league meeting between these sides produced 11 goals as SDS ran out 8-3 winners. Goals were common for SDS in the final few weeks of the league format as they pushed for a place in the final four, they’ve seen 8+ goals in each of their last four matches, including the head-to-head meeting between SDS and Deportrio.

Yanited have been the most consistent side in Baller League throughout the league phase and will fancy their chances of progressing through to the showpiece event. They were the second top scorers during the league phase with 51 goals across their 11 matches (4.63 per game).

Yanited have won seven of their 11 games and face up against MVPs United here who actually posted the exact same record as Yanited during the league phase, only finishing above them thanks to the Pepsi Penalty Pressure Point, which secured their progression to the final four of the competition. 

MVPs United did narrowly edge out Yanited by a 4-3 scoreline when these sides met on the 19th May but Yanited had slightly taken their foot off the gas by then, knowing a top four finish was all but secured. The discrepancy in the scoring power between these sides could be what makes the difference here, MVPs scored seven goals fewer than Yanited during the league phase of the competition.

The player to watch for Yanited here will be Tyler Winters, who registered 16 goal contributions during the league phase format of Baller League. His quality, combined with Yanited’s free-scoring nature should result in a victory for Angry Ginge and his men, setting up a final matchup against either SDS FC or Deportrio.
