Man United v Newcastle Boosted Anytime Goalscorer Tips

Fixtures for: Friday 26th December

Matheus Cunha to Score Anytime

Cunha has come into form at an important point of the season for Manchester United with Ruben Amorim losing Amad and Mbuemo to AFCON, as well as recently losing Bruno Fernandes who picked up an injury in United’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last time out and is expected to be out until the New Year.

Cunha has scored in each of his last two matches for Manchester United, netting against Bournemouth and Aston Villa. He’s had 16 shots across these two matches which offers real promise when backing Cunha to score here purely from a shot volume perspective. Six of these attempts have found the target, which tells us that Cunha is United’s most likely scorer in the absence of Amad, Mbeumo and Fernandes.

Cunha has had 47 shots across his 14 Premier League appearances this season (4.10 per 90), showing that his promising shot volume is a consistent part of his game. 18 of these attempts have found the target (1.57 per 90) and he should have plenty of confidence to register similar numbers here.

Newcastle have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last 10 matches in all competitions so we can expect Eddie Howe’s side to be a bit nervous at the back here. Newcastle have conceded 2+ goals in five of their last 10 matches, so there should be opportunities for United to strike here with Cunha being the man in form, and also the most likely United goalscorer when considering the players they are missing due to AFCON and injury. Fernandes’ absence may also earn Cunha penalty duties for United in this clash.

Nick Woltemade to Score Anytime

Woltemade scored a brace against Chelsea last weekend, setting him up nicely to strike again in this clash. Those were his first goals in the Premier League since striking against Everton a few weeks ago, and he should be afforded opportunities here by a United backline that is far from secure.

Senne Lammens has only managed to keep one clean sheet across his 11 Premier League appearances this term, which highlights the issues that United have been facing at the back this campaign. They’ve conceded 12 goals across their eight games at Old Trafford this season, including failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their last three games in front of the United crowd.

Woltemade has a unique profile, but that doesn't take away from his effectiveness in front of goal with the big German netting seven goals across his 14 Premier League appearances so far this term - which is an excellent record for a young striker that is still adapting to the pace and intensity of the Premier League.

Woltemade has already scored against Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham for Newcastle this season - so he doesn’t hide in the bigger matches and can use the brace he netted against the Blues last time out to inspire some confidence to find the back of the net here, potentially further spurred on by United’s poor defensive record at Old Trafford and in general this season.
