Man City were dealt a damning defeat at the weekend, as they lost 2-0 in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford. That result broke a 13-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, and they will hope to get back on track on Tuesday night. The Cityzens have fared better in the Champions League this season, boasting a record of four wins, one draw and one loss after six games, which puts them 4th in the standings. 

Pep Guardiola’s men are in a good position at this point in the season - they look set to make it to the EFL Cup final, are still in contention for the league, just seven points behind Arsenal, and recently secured progression in the FA Cup by beating Exeter City 10-1.

It was one-way traffic for the 10-1 FA Cup win against League One Exeter, but City still surrendered their clean sheet in the 90th minute, meaning they have completed just one shutout in their last five matches across all competitions. They looked particularly vulnerable on the break against Man United last time out, and the Red Devils had a couple of goals ruled out for narrow offside calls. 

There’s no doubting the talent that City have in the final third, and they should be looking to score multiple goals here, but Bodo will fancy their chances of causing problems on the break. Top teams have struggled at the Aspmyra Stadium this season, as Bodo scored twice against both Spurs and Juventus. 

They failed to score in their other home outing against Monaco, but had plenty of chances in that game. Bodo racked up 17 shots and three big chances worth 1.67 xG, forcing Philipp Kohn into four saves.

It can be tough for visiting teams to adapt to the harsh Norwegian conditions and the artificial surface of the Aspmyra Stadium, but Erling Haaland should have no issues with either as he returns to his native country. The 25-year-old was kept quiet against Man United last time out, registering just the two shots of which both were blocked, meaning he has scored just once in his last seven matches across all competitions. 

Considering that goal came from the penalty spot, Haaland should be more motivated than ever to recover his form and get back to scoring ways. Despite his rough patch, Haaland has scored 26 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, and is still the Premier League top scorer. He has also bagged six goals from six Champions League appearances, and will hope to punish a Bodo side who have shipped 13 goals from their six European outings.

Rodri completed the full 90 for just the third time this season at the weekend, although he didn’t get the desired result against Man United. The Spaniard is unlikely to start in midweek, as Pep Guardiola manages his minutes, meaning Nico O’Reilly could return to defensive midfield against Bodo. Nico Gonzalez has missed the last two matches through injury, meaning O’Reilly featured in midfield against Newcastle in the EFL Cup. He committed just the one foul at St James’ Park before being substituted after 62 minutes. 

The 20-year-old is averaging 1.8 fouls per 90 in the Champions League this season, has committed more fouls than any other Man City player, and has landed this selection in all five appearances in the competition this term. Bodo were fouled 17 times in their last European outing at home, highlighting how they can be quite a difficult side to contain.
