Crystal Palace were on the receiving end of arguably the biggest upset in FA Cup history last weekend, as they lost 2-1 against non-league side Macclesfield. Without a win in any of their last nine matches across all competitions, the Eagles find themselves in a poor stretch of form, and they will be desperate for their fortunates to change.

📂 Sunderland v Crystal Palace Cheat Sheet
📈 Sunderland v Crystal Palace Form & Tactics
Sunderland fared much better in the FA Cup last weekend, as they overcame Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Black Cats were unfortunate to concede a soft penalty in regulation time, which was converted by James Garner to level the scores. Robin Roefs made sure that was the only spot kick he conceded in the game - he saved all three of Everton’s penalties in the shootout, allowing his side to cruise to a comfortable victory. They will hope that can inspire an improvement in their Premier League fortunates, as Sunderland have won just one of their last eight.
Crystal Palace did secure a point against an in-form Aston Villa side in their last Premier League outing, but it has been a turgid run for the Eagles in recent weeks. They have been eliminated from the EFL Cup, fallen out of contention for the European spots in the league, and were dumped out of the FA Cup. In that game against Macclesfield, Palace didn’t put up much of a fight either - they managed just 0.75 xG, and Yeremy Pino scored the only goal for his side in the 90th minute. Palace have struggled in the final third recently, and have scored just twice in their last six league matches.
📔 Sunderland v Crystal Palace Formation & Team News
Oliver Glasner made some changes to his usual starting eleven against Macclesfield, but still started the likes of Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton, which made the result even more disappointing. Chris Richards was fit enough to make his first start since being stretchered off against Arsenal, so could be in contention to start here, with Justin Devenny deputising for Daniel Munoz at right wingback. Brennan Johnson hasn’t made much of an impact since completing his transfer from Spurs, but is likely to re-claim his spot in the eleven this weekend.
Le Bris was able to welcome back Noah Sadiki to the starting eleven, after the midfielder returned from AFCON, while Wilson Isidor also made an appearance off the bench last time out. Omar Alderete and Dan Ballard should return to the starting eleven for this match, while Reinildo could also be in contention to feature in the backline. After coming on as a substitute against Everton, Brian Brobbey was replaced during extra-time, meaning Isidor could lead the line against Palace.
