What a game we saw on Monday night between Manchester United and Bournemouth, an eight goal thriller with twists and turns and the points shared.

A player who caught my eye playing in a deeper role than usual was Marcus Tavernier, providing a goal for Evanilson with a slide rule through ball, and scoring a free kick after his own brilliant run was brought to a halt on the edge of the United box. Tavernier has five goal contributions in last ten league games and six overall, which is only two shy of his total tally from last season.

The Cherries are up against the joint leakiest away defence in the league in Burnley, who are on a run of seven straight defeats. Whilst Bournemouth are also winless in seven matches, they have shown a lot more than the Clarets when it comes to breaking this poor run of form. Their run of goals conceded away from home all season reads : 2, 3, 3, 2, 2, 5, 3, 3.

The bookmakers make Manchester City 1.04 to score a goal in this game, which is the shortest price I’ve seen since researching these articles, so it’s an obvious move to side with one of their players to score or assist.

Phil Foden would be the obvious choice, with eight goals or assists in his last five games, but I’ve put him up the last few weeks and so we’ll have a look at someone different at a bigger price in Rayan Cherki, who scored a great goal in the cup against Brentford in midweek. Cherki scored twelve goals and assisted twenty in all competitions for Lyon last season, and has 1 goal and 6 assists in the Premier League so far.

West Ham have not kept a clean sheet since the 31st August, and that does not look like changing here.

If you asked Alexa to give you an in form Premier League striker, she would say Hugo Ekitike, having bagged braces in his last two outings to make it seven league goals so far for Liverpool in his debut season, six more than striker partner Alexander Isak who cost double the amount.

Liverpool, whilst they have their struggles this season, have generally continued to score goals, the fifth most in the Premier League.

They travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, where Spurs have the 17th best home record so far this season, only averaging one point per game under Thomas Frank. They have lost four of their eight league games on home turf, with even Wolves walking away with a point, and almost all three but for a 94th minute equaliser.

Liverpool should be able to create, with Spurs playing style potentially playing into their hands with their pace in transition.

Belgian winger Leandro Trossard has arguably been Arsenal’s most effective attacker this season, joint top scorer with four goals, and joint top provider with three assists from twelve appearances, only eight of them starts.

He has not started the last couple of games, but he came on as a sub at Villa and scored, and did not start against Wolves in what was a poor performance, so Mikel Arteta might be minded to make changes to his starting line up.

Everton have generally been pretty solid, but conceded three at home against Spurs and four against Newcastle, so there is precedent for them folding after an early goal. This is a master vs apprentice clash, with David Moyes the man who brought Arteta twenty years ago.

Jake O’Brien is probably the weakest aspect of Everton’s back line at right back, and Trossard should be able to exploit the Irish defender to contribute here.
