Spezia v Inter
🏟
Friday 15th April – 6:00PM KO
The Easter weekend of fixtures kicks off with Inter travelling west to face relegation-threatened Speziain Serie A.
The Nerazzurri have been through a seriously difficult patch of form which made them the outsiders to win the Serie A title but their last two results mean they are right back in the picture.
The win over Juventus was not exactly an impressive performance in that instance they just needed to get the three points. They then entertained Hellas Verona at San Siro and it felt like watching early-season Inter.
There was movement all over the pitch, they looked dangerous every time they came forward, and two players who really needed a goal, Nicolo Barella and Edin Dzeko, found the back of the net.
This upturn in form is why it is very easy to imagine that they can take three points from Liguria without too much hassle. They’re not safe yet, but Spezia players may start thinking that their 11-point gap over Venezia with six games to go is big enough that they don’t need to go all out against a team chasing the title.
Relegation-threatened managers often pick their games carefully at this stage of the season and Spezia may just sit in and see what they can get, conserving energy for the games against the teams around them in the table.

AC Milan v Genoa
🏟
Friday 15th April – 8:00PM KO
Just over a week ago it seemed that AC Milan had found a steady patch of form at the right time and it was their Scudetto to lose.
Suddenly, 0-0 draws against Bologna and Torino mean that if Inter were to win their game in hand against Bologna on April 27, the Rossoneri would be a point behind them.
It is a terrible time in the season for Stefano Pioli’s side to just stop finding the back of the net but that is exactly what has happened. Every one of his strikers and forward players is firing blanks right now and it’s a situation that must be arrested quickly.
A home game against a Genoa side that are in the bottom three and just got beaten 4-1 at home to Lazio may seem like the ideal scenario to find some goals.
The Grifone have become solid under new coach Alexander Blessin which is why they have drawn so many games under him. They tried to come out and play against Lazio and got stung by Ciro Immobile.
They may well sit deep at San Siro and do all they can to frustrate AC Milan and as we have seen in recent weeks, Milan can’t handle that very well at the moment. That is why it could be a very low-scoring affair on Friday evening.

Cagliari v Sassuolo
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 11:30AM KO
Every game is absolutely crucial for Cagliari now because they are on a run of five straight defeats and the only thing keeping them out of the bottom three is that Venezia are on the same awful run of form.
Cagliari are genuinely dangerous when they get forward and that is why it is likely that they will find the back of the net at home to a Sassuolo side who are suspect in defence.
That situation works both ways though. Sassuolo are on a fine run of form and have so many players that could pick this Cagliari defence apart, given it is the second-worst in the division so far having conceded 61 times.
The Neroverdi are in a very promising run of form and are an outside bet to nab a spot in the Europa Conference League next season. They have something to play for and the likes of Hamed Traore, Gianluca Scamacca, Giacomo Raspadori and Domenico Berardi will not be looking to do Cagliari any favours.
Joao Pedro is very much the primary source of goals for the Sardinian team and they will need him to be firing. If they can score, it will almost certainly be Joao Pedro.
There’s a decent chance for an end-to-end game with plenty of goals here but Cagliari have to make sure that they come out victorious.

Udinese v Empoli
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 1:30PM KO
This is a game that may not jump out to many as the one to keep an eye on this weekend and that is very understandable.
The main storylines are that another win for Udinese surely secures their Serie A status if it isn’t secure already, and a defeat for Empoli would leave them an outside bet for relegation.
Udinese have won three of their last five Serie A matches and drawn one of those other two. That upturn in form is what has risen them to 13th in the Serie A table and they have two games in hand on many of the teams around them. They’re 14 points above the drop.
Just based on the points gap and the games in hand it would be fair to assume they may be on the beach by this point, but the excitement of their recent form and the fact that many players are competing for their place in the team next season or a big move away means they are unlikely to take their foot off the pedal just yet.
As for Empoli, they still haven’t won a Serie A game since they beat Napoli at the end of November. There have been some draws thrown in but they are certainly not a confident side right now and it has become tough to back them in any game.

Sampdoria v Salernitana
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 1:30PM KO
For all the teams down at the bottom and fighting a possible relegation, this is the fixture you want. Home to Salernitana.
They are stuck on 16 points and it is only a matter of time until their fate is sealed but they will certainly want to leave their mark on some other team’s seasons before they run out of time.
Sampdoria could be saved this season by the simple fact that there are three or maybe four worse teams than them in the division. Points have been very hard to come by, they have lost four of their last five Serie A matches, winning the other.
They’re seven points ahead of Venezia but they have played a game more than the Venetians. They are far from out of the woods yet but a win against Salernitana would do them the world of good.
There are enough dangerous players in the Sampdoria side such as Francesco Caputo, Fabio Quagliarella and Stefano Sensi that they simply must beat a Salernitana side that has conceded 68 goals so far this season, more than anyone else.
It probably won’t be a thrilling and high-scoring affair but the chances are that Sampdoria will find a way through at some point and get the win they need.

Fiorentina v Venezia
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 3:30PM KO
Fiorentina will be feeling extremely confident after they put pain to Napoli’s title ambitions last weekend and beat the Azzurri 3-2 in their own backyard.
They’re a dangerous team with multiple players that can hurt you such as last weekend’s goalscorers, Arthur Cabral, Jonathan Ikone and Nicolas Gonzalez. The likes of Riccardo Sottil and Krzysztof Piątek can also be added to that list.
La Viola are now seventh in the table and should they win their game in hand, they’ll move ahead of Lazio and to within one point of Roma who are currently sat in fifth. European football of some description is definitely on the cards for Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
They will view a game against a Venezia side devoid of any real confidence who are also Tyronne Ebuehi and Ethan Ampadu as a great chance to score some goals and continue climbing up the Serie A table.
Venezia simply have to find some points from somewhere but it’s very possible that they have already missed their chance to survive.
Their last three games were against Udinese, Sampdoria and Spezia. It was widely said that they need six points from those games and they managed to lose all three of them.
It is not easy to see coming to the Artemio Franchi and outscoring a confident Fiorentina side.

Juventus v Bologna
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 5:30PM KO
It’s fair to say that there is not a huge amount riding on this Saturday evening match between Juventus and Bologna.
Bologna are not in danger of going down and they are certainly not going to climb very far up the Serie A table in their final seven games. They appear to have checked out somewhat and will mostly be playing for the pride of beating Juventus.
As for the Bianconeri, they do need to make sure that their standards do not drop so that they keep hold of that fourth spot in Serie A. That does not mean they will score loads of goals though.
Barring the 1-0 defeat at home to Inter that ended any talk of a late title surge from Massimiliano Allegri’s side, they have been in excellent form.
They win games in a functional manner without many frills. That is why it is easy to picture a 1-0 win at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday, or perhaps a 2-0 win.
They needed a relatively late and fortunate goal from Dusan Vlahovic to beat Cagliari in Sardinia last weekend so they’ll no that bad results can come from anywhere.
Expect a mechanical performance from Juventus against a Bologna team who may not give them too much trouble.

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals, 1.95 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Lazio v Torino
🏟
Saturday 16th April – 7:45PM KO
Maurizio Sarri has steadied Lazio’s season very nicely after quite a difficult start to the season. What is more impressive is that he has done it without signing any players of note in the January transfer window.
They’re now in a position where entry straight to the group stage of the Europa League is on the cards and if they get it, it will likely be at the extent of their main rivals Roma.
They sit in sixth and are just two points off of Roma. Lazio have won four out of their last five and they are continuing to bang in the goals. They put four past Genoa last weekend and Ciro Immobile scored a hat-trick. They’re the second-highest scorers in the league.
It is unlikely that anyone will be getting a hat-trick for Lazio this weekend though because they are against a Torino side who have shown that they can frustrate the best, getting draws against Inter and AC Milan in recent weeks.
Ivan Juric’s side have the fifth-best defensive record in the division despite the fact that they sit down in 11th. That is largely down to Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer who is being linked with a move to every big club on the continent.
It probably won’t be a rout for Lazio this time, but they should still have enough to grab the three points they need at the Stadio Olimpico.
