Fulham v Man City
Kick Off: Sunday 25th May at 16:00
As the 2024/25 Premier League season draws to a close this Sunday, most of the headline battles - title race and relegation - have already been decided. But one significant thread remains: the scramble for Champions League qualification.
Five clubs remain in contention for the final two spots, and Manchester City, currently best positioned in 3rd, head to the capital knowing even a point will realistically seal the deal due to their superior goal difference. For hosts Fulham, the stakes are historic too - a top-half finish would be their best since 2011/12, capping a record-breaking campaign in terms of points.
This fixture may lack title implications, but don’t be fooled - there’s plenty on the line. Here’s how both sides shape up heading into this key clash.
⭐ Fulham v Man City Best Bets
Manchester City enter their final Premier League fixture of the season with everything to play for and history firmly on their side. Despite a turbulent campaign by their own high standards, City remain a formidable force and boast a perfect record against Fulham across their last 17 meetings in all competitions (W17), netting 52 goals in the process. Fulham’s last Premier League victory over City came all the way back in April 2009 under Roy Hodgson - a distant memory that underscores the daunting challenge ahead. Marco Silva, meanwhile, has never beaten a Pep Guardiola side in 14 previous attempts (L14), further stacking the odds against the hosts.
Adding to Fulham’s challenge is City’s ominous form. Guardiola’s side are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run (W6, D2), a surge that has seen them climb from 6th to 3rd in the table. With Champions League qualification nearly secured, City still have an outside chance of snatching 2nd place and will be pushing for a strong finish. This end-of-season momentum is characteristic of City, who have won nine of their last 11 Premier League final day games.
Fulham, though improved this season, have struggled for consistency - none of their last 17 league matches have ended in a draw (W8, L9) - highlighting their unpredictable form. They’ve also lost their last two home games, and with European hopes extinguished, motivation may be in short supply.
With form, history, and motivation all favouring the visitors, expect City’s quality, experience, and urgency to overpower a Fulham side with little left to play for.

🔍 Fulham v Man City Players to Watch
⚪ Alex Iwobi
Iwobi has quietly become one of Fulham’s more efficient attackers. He ranks 3rd in shots per 90 (1.91) and 2nd in goals (nine) this season. His shots on target rate of 0.82 per 90 doesn’t tell the full picture as his recent shift into a more attacking role, has seen him hit the target in five of his last seven appearances. At even money, this provides solid value.
🔵 Nico O'Reilly
This price offers excellent value considering O’Reilly’s recent disciplinary trends and likely matchups. While his season average of 0.8 fouls per 90 may suggest a low foul count, it doesn’t capture the full picture - he’s committed at least one foul in seven of his last eight starts, picking up two yellow cards in his last three appearances.
Still developing defensively, O’Reilly often finds himself exposed in duels, especially in wide areas. His likely opponent, Adama Traoré, is a nightmare matchup for any young full back, winning 1.63 fouls per 90 with his explosive dribbling and physicality. If Traoré doesn’t start, Harry Wilson presents an arguably tougher challenge, drawing 1.78 fouls per 90 with his sharp changes of direction and low centre of gravity.
The only caveat here is whether O’Reilly makes the starting XI. If he does, this selection becomes a standout angle based on matchup dynamics and his consistent recent foul output. So it's worth waiting for team news before getting on.
