After their second-half capitulation at the Rams Park Stadium in the first leg, Juventus have a massive task on their hands here on Wednesday night. They were 2-1 up at half-time, as Teun Koopmeiners bagged a brace, but Juve’s defensive structure completely fell apart in the second period, and they conceded four times. 

Luciano Spalletti’s men find themselves in a rough patch of form, and their frustration was compounded even further at the weekend, as they were beaten 2-0 by Como. That result made it five games without a win, during which Juventus have conceded 15 goals. 

With that being said, Juventus have generally performed better at home this season, and have only lost once in Turin across all competitions this campaign. Juventus are not the type of team to go down without a fight, and Galatasaray have a three-goal cushion to play with.

That means the visitors can afford to lose by one or two goals, and they will still progress to the next round.

Still, Galatasaray will want to keep things tight, knowing that they won’t be able to find as much success in the final third as they did on home turf. They are likely to sit in a deep, pragmatic block, aiming to keep things compact. That means Juventus could control possession and exert a lot more dominance on the game than they did in the first leg. 

Juventus managed just seven shots in the reverse, but they were reduced to ten men in the 67th minute, and this should be a very different game. They are averaging 18.39 shots per game at the Allianz Stadium, with 6.5 shots on target. That has translated to an average of 4.61 opposition saves per game, so Ugurcan Cakir will have to keep his wits about him.

Khephren Thuram is not usually renowned for his contributions in the final third, with just one league goal to his name from 24 appearances this season, but he should be able to find himself in more advanced positions than usual here. 

Thuram is averaging 1.64 shots per 90 across all competitions this season, which rises to 2.04 when playing at home. Juventus tend to play with a lot more attacking intent when encouraged by their home crowd, and the support will have to be as strong as ever on Wednesday night. 

Thuram has landed this selection in five of his last seven matches on home turf, and even managed to get on the scoresheet in his last European outing against Benfica. Standing at 6’2, Thuram is a danger from set-pieces, and he does often try his luck from distance. 

In addition to their heavy defeat in the first leg, Juventus were dealt another blow as Bremer had to be replaced in the first half due to a thigh injury.

The Brazilian missed out against Como at the weekend, meaning Federico Gatti looks set to start at the back against Galatasaray. The Italian international looked a bit rusty when he was introduced, given his lack of regular gametime this season, and he registered one foul. 

Once again, the centre back will have the tough task of trying to contain Victor Isimhen midweek - the Nigerian international is averaging 1.27 fouls drawn per 90 this season. Meanwhile, Gatti is averaging 2.04 fouls per 90 this season when playing at home, highlighting how he likes to get tight to his opposing striker and engage in duels. He will have to be even more aggressive on Wednesday night as Juve will want to sustain pressure.
