Hearts will look to tighten their hold on top spot in the Scottish Premiership by defeating Dundee United at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon.

After being held to a 2-2 draw away at St Mirren last midweek, Hearts returned to winning ways with a 4-0 demolition of Dundee last Saturday.

That victory means Derek McInnes’ men will start the weekend nine points clear of Celtic, though they have now played one game more than the reigning champions.

Meanwhile, Dundee United have dropped down to 7th place in the table after falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Motherwell last time out.

Hearts to Win @ 1.39

I think Hearts will continue their stunning start to the season by defeating Dundee United at Tynecastle on Sunday. The Jam tarts have won nine of their 11 Scottish Premiership matches this season, including five of their six on home turf.

The likes of Aberdeen, Celtic, and Hibs have all come away from this venue empty-handed this season, and I’m expecting Dundee United to suffer the same fate.

Jim Goodwin’s side have triumphed just once in five attempts on their Scottish top-flight travels this term, slumping to a 2-0 loss at Motherwell during their most recent away day last midweek.

Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.62

Hearts claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory in this season’s reverse fixture, and I think goals could be on the agenda on Sunday. Eight of the hosts’ 11 Scottish Premiership matches this season have delivered a minimum of three goals, with the capital club impressively covering the over 2.5 goal line single-handedly on six occasions.

I suspect Hearts may need to hit multiple goals here if they are to get past a Dundee United side that have scored in eight of their 10 top-flight outings this season, striking twice or more in four of their five games away from Tannadice.

📈 Hearts v Dundee United Form & Stats

After dropping points for just the second time this season when drawing 2-2 away at St Mirren last midweek, Hearts got back on track by trouncing Dundee 4-0 at Tynecastle last weekend. That latest victory made it nine wins from 11 for the Jam Tarts this term, with Derek McInnes’ team the only side that have yet to lose a game in this season’s Scottish Premiership.

Hearts are the leading scorers in this season’s Scottish Premiership by quite some distance, smashing in 28 goals across their opening 11 matches of the campaign. That strike rate is made all the more impressive by the fact that the capital club have netted multiple goals in 10 of their 11 top-flight outings this term.

The league leaders also hold one of the strongest defensive records in the Scottish Premiership this season, conceding just nine goals to date.

Dundee United have had a mixed bag of results in the Scottish Premiership this season, posting three wins, four draws, and three defeats up until this stage. However, it is worth mentioning that just one of those three victories have arrived across the Terrors’ last five matches.

Jim Goodwin’s side have looked more dangerous in the final third this season, evidenced by the fact that only Hearts (28) and Hibs (18) have scored more goals than Dundee United (17) in this season’s Scottish top-flight.

Dundee United have been one of the most ill-disciplined teams in the Scottish Premiership this season, collecting an average of 2.70 cards per game. It’s also worth noting that a red card has been flashed in two of Dundee United’s last seven league games.

A sizeable seven yellow cards were handed out when Dundee United played host to Hearts earlier this season.
