📈 Aston Villa v Leeds Form & Tactics

After losing 4-0 against Arsenal at the end of January, Leeds have been able to bounce back strongly. They secured a comfortable 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest at home before taking a point from Stamford Bridge with an impressive comeback. Fortune was on their side in that game, as Chelsea accumulated 19 shots worth 3.13 xG, while Leeds only managed 1.44 xG from their four shots. The penalty accounted for a large chunk of their xG tally.

However, Daniel Farke won’t care - his side have done well this season to grind out points when they have been up against it, and because of that, they are six points clear of the drop zone.

Aston Villa will hope to put an end to that unbeaten streak, although they have been a bit inconsistent in recent weeks. Villa were dumped out of the FA Cup by Newcastle last time out, as Marco Bizot’s red card was the turning point. Aston Villa took a 1-0 lead early on through a clever set-piece, before their goalkeeper was dismissed for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Newcastle were clinical in the second half and secured a 3-1 win, condemning Villa to their third home defeat in their last five matches.

📔 Aston Villa v Leeds Formation & Team News

Brenden Aaronson looks set for a recall to the starting eleven to play alongside Bogle in forward areas, after the American international only featured from the bench at the weekend. Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev look set to partner up in midfield, while Sean Longstaff is another option after recovering from injury. Gabriel Gudmundsson and James Justin are the prime candidates to start as the wingbacks.

Douglas Luiz and Amadou Onana should continue in midfield, as Tieleman and Kamara remain in the treatment room, with Morgan Rogers playing more advanced. Emi Buendia should return to the left wing, while Jadon Sancho could replace Leon Bailey on the opposite flank. Ollie Watkins was afforded a rest against Newcastle last time out, but the Englishman will lead the line here. Emi Martinez will start in between the sticks, and Unai Emery will hope he can stay fit while Bizot is suspended.
