Manchester City haven’t kept a clean sheet on their travels since the opening day of the season and they have been to the likes of Wolves and Crystal Palace in that time. Their slump in form has been well-documented and while it should turn here, it would be a surprise if their defensive record suddenly improves.

Leicester went to Anfield and scored on Boxing Day in a game where they showed little ambition after that. You would expect them to show a lot more intent on home soil so both teams to score looks good to land for an 8th time in 10 City away games.

Much has been made of the slump in form of Erling Haaland and a missed penalty against Everton on Boxing Day did nothing to change that narrative, but the one thing Haaland tends to do is feast on the weaker sides in the division and there is no doubt that Leicester City are in that category.

The Norwegian is in the middle of a bit of a drought by his standards but Leicester have conceded 10 goals in their last 3 matches and look ideal opponents for Haaland to get back on the scoresheet against.

Leicester City have been exposed down their left side which should be music to the ears of Savinho, who could well be 1 of the players to prosper in this match.

Savinho caused Everton trouble on Boxing Day and with Stephy Mavididi offering little defensive cover on that side the Brazil international could find himself one-on-one with his full-back on a number of occasions. He can cut inside or beat players with pace and having had 3 shots on target on Boxing Day, he can add another here.

The last leg of this bet builder comes in the form of Jeremy Doku to be fouled at least a couple of times. We all know how tricky he can be down the left side and James Justin, or whoever plays right-back for Leicester, will have his work cut out. Jordan Ayew offers more cover down that side but he can be guilty of giving fouls away too. Doku earned 3 fouls against Everton on Boxing Day and with his pace and directness he can earn 2 more here.

Manchester City aren’t in the greatest form right now but there were enough signs in their 1-1 draw with Everton on Boxing Day that they might be starting to turn things around. They created enough to win a couple of games in that match and won’t run into as defensively astute a side here or Jordan Pickford between the sticks.

While the City struggles are clear, there looks to be a huge gulf between these 2 sides and that could play out on the scoreboard.

Kevin de Bruyne played a short role in the draw with Everton on Boxing Day so you would imagine he will get a longer outing here and with the Leicester defence easy to expose the Belgian should be able to add to his huge tally of goal contributions. Leicester can be vulnerable from set plays but in open play de Bruyne should regularly find himself in the areas that can either get him a chance to score or to play a team-mate in, so expect arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League to contribute again.

The gamestate here is likely to be that Manchester City have all of the ball and all of the play, and if Leicester City defend deep and look to frustrate the champions then that would allow Pep Guardiola to get his full-backs to join in with the attack even more than he usually does.

The Croatian is also a threat from set plays where Leicester are weak in terms of giving up chances. Gvardiol averages 1.70 shots per game this season but can be expected to outperform that average with the likely game situation and he can put 1 of those on target.

Erling Haaland has scored13 goals in the Premier League this season, which includes 3 against both Ipswich and West Ham and a brace against Brentford, and he has another weak defence to go at here.

Leicester have conceded 10 goals in their last 3 matches and if their defence doesn’t tighten up Haaland can enjoy himself with a brace at least.
