Home advantage hasn’t provided much of an advantage for the Clarets this season, as they have won just two of their nine matches in the league. They were held to a 0-0 draw against Everton at the weekend, but did show glimpses of positivity in the final third, and were unfortunate not to find the back of the net. Burnley racked up 16 shots worth a total of 1.65 xG. 

Scott Parker’s men have played with a bit more attacking freedom in recent weeks, shifting away from their pragmatic low block tactics. Because of that, they have scored four goals in their last four matches, with one of those coming against Newcastle. The Magpies were able to hold on to a 2-1 lead when these sides met a few weeks ago, but given how Eddie Howe’s men have struggled on their travels this season, Burnley will be confident they can capitalise.

Martin Dubravka has a bit of extra motivation to perform well here, given that he will face his former club. The Slovakian international spent seven-and-a-half years at Newcastle, but has found a new home at Turf Moor - he has played every available minute in the league this season, during which he has accumulated the most saves of any Premier League goalkeeper. Dubravka racked up six saves against Everton at the weekend and six saves against Newcastle in that recent meeting. 

The 36-year-old is averaging 3.53 saves per game, while he has also kept just three clean sheets from 18 matches this season. That just goes to show how leaky Burnley have been at the back - considering Newcastle are drawing an average of 3.6 saves per game, Dubravka will have to be on top form if his side are to take any points on Tuesday night.

Newcastle’s 1-0 defeat against Man United on Friday night means they have won just one of their nine Premier League away games this season, picking up just six points from those matches. The Magpies have been a difficult side to face at St James’ Park, but it has been a complete contrast when they play away. They are conceding an average of 10.5 shots per game at home, compared to 11.9 on their travels. Because of that, Burnley will fancy their chances of causing problems in the final third. 

The Clarets are averaging just 9.8 shots per game at Turf Moor this season, but their more progressive approach in recent weeks meant they recorded 16 shots against both Everton and Fulham in their most recent home outings. Ugochukwu contributed four shots and a goal against the Cottagers, and two efforts against Everton at the weekend.

Ugochukwu has been given more attacking license to get forward in recent weeks, and that trend should persist even if his regular midfield partner is to change. Josh Cullen went down in a lot of pain against Everton, and had to be taken off with a suspected knee injury. The Burnley captain has been essential for the Clarets in midfield this season, but his absence is likely to open up a chance for Florentino Luis to start again.

The Portuguese international is averaging 1.54 fouls per 90 across all competitions this season, and he registered two fouls at St James’ Park not too long ago. In addition to that, Luis is averaging 4.2 tackles per 90, highlighting a real willingness to duel, which makes this price stand out. Up against the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon for Newcastle, he should have plenty of work to get through on Tuesday night.
