Both Teams to Score

BTTS has landed in each of the last two head to head meetings between the sides. Go Ahead Eagles actually managed to win both of these games, one of which was in the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup, so even though Go Ahead Eagles are the underdogs here, they have a recent strong record against PSV, which they will hope will give them a psychological advantage over the favourites here.

Remarkably, these two recent victories are the only wins that Go Ahead Eagles have ever registered against PSV, with Peter Bosz’s side winning the other 14 clashes between the sides.

Ricardo Pepi to Score Anytime

Ricardo Pepi has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer and his numbers from last season paint an obvious picture as to why clubs around Europe are hunting the 22-year-old. Pepi scored 17 goals across his 28 appearances for PSV last season, his best scoring tally as a professional footballer to date. He scored 11 goals across just 18 appearances in the Eredivisie and looks set to take the starting striker spot from the ageing Luuk De Jong, who is now a free agent. Pepi scored a brace in PSV’s most recent friendly outing against FC Eindhoven, which should give him confidence heading into this clash.

🔴 Change Upfront for the Champions

Peter Bosz has done an excellent job with this PSV side in managing to break the dominant grip that Ajax and Feyenoord had on the Dutch top-flight. They’ve been crowned Eredivisie champions in each of the last two seasons, but it will be difficult to make this three in a row, seeing as their lead was cut down to just one point last season, having been seven in the 23/24 season.

PSV have been pretty active in the transfer window to ensure that they can maintain their position at the summit of Dutch football. The signing of Alassane Plea should account for the loss suffered by Luuk De Jong becoming a free agent - De Jong was PSV’s top scorer in each of the last three seasons, but PSV have enough firepower with Pepi and now Plea to cover his goalscoring output.

Steady Eagles are No Pushover

Go Ahead Eagles have steadily climbed up the Eredivisie since their promotion from the Eerste Divisie in the 2020/21 season, the lowest they’ve finished in that time is 13th which is reflective of a club that is well managed and constantly looking to progress. They finished 7th last season and won their first major trophy in the club's modern history.

Their recent victories over PSV are another sign of the club's development in the last few years. They will be underdogs here, but we can still expect them to carry a threat in this Super Cup final and in the upcoming 25/26 season, with Melvin Boel’s side progressing every season.

📊 PSV v Go Ahead Eagles H2H

Go Ahead Eagles won two of the three meetings between the sides last season. BTTS landed in both of those victories, with the other meeting ending in a 3-0 win for PSV.
