Ritchie Edhouse v Rob Cross Best Bet
🎯 Ritchie Edhouse (+1.5 Handicap)
📈 Odds: 1.91
Ritchie Edhouse and Rob Cross face off in an intriguing-looking round of 16 tie at the Grand Slam of Darts on Wednesday night. Edhouse put in an impressive showing during the group stage, winning all three of his matches to take top spot in the section. Meanwhile, Cross placed second in Group C behind Martin Lukeman after winning two and losing one of his three pool fixtures.
Number four seed Cross heads into this clash as the 1.73 favourite but it might not be the cakewalk the pre-match odds suggest. Edhouse’s exploits in the oche this year suggest that he is more than capable of keeping this contents competitive. As such, ‘Madhouse’ merits support with a +1.5 start on the handicap at 1.73.
Basildon-born Edhouse stormed to the biggest win of his career last month to lift the European Championship. He has carried that momentum into this year’s Grand Slam, having swept aside all before him in Group D. The 41-year-old’s group stage showing was made all the more impressive by the fact that he lost just five legs across his three outings.
In contrast, Cross does not appear to be playing at his fluent best at the moment. ‘Voltage’ was solid rather than spectacular during each of his Group C victories over Leonard Gates and Peter Wright. He cut a frustrated figure at times during his final group game with Wright and he can expect a much tougher test from high-flying Edhouse, who holds plenty of appeal with a 1.5 head start.
