The Rossoblu were clinical in their last league outing, as they were able to capitalise on Amin Sarr’s red card soon after the second half started. However, Cagliari were firmly in control even before Hellas Verona were reduced to ten men, as they were 2-0 up in the first period. 

It finished 4-0 at the Unipol Domus Stadium on Saturday night, marking what has been a rich vein of form for Cagliari coming into this clash. They have won three league games on the spin, pushing them up to 12th in the Serie A standings and creating daylight between them and the relegation zone. 

However, they face a tough test at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night, and they are priced as underdogs. Cagliari will at least fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet here, but Roma have scored 17 goals in their last ten home matches across all competitions, so the main challenge will be keeping them at bay.

The Romans are currently battling towards the top of the pile, sitting fifth in the league. They are two points behind Juventus, so they have plenty to play for here. The Giallorossi rank sixth in total fouls drawn in the Italian top flight this season, which translates to the fourth-most opposition yellow cards. 

Roma are averaging 2.93 yellow cards per game at home, which is impressively high. In fact, this selection has landed for their opponents in 13 out of 15 matches at the Stadio Olimpico across all competitions, highlighting just how difficult they are to contain. 

Meanwhile, Cagliari rank second for total fouls committed in Serie A this season, and top of the charts for yellow cards - those two trends marry up nicely here to back bookings. The Rossoblu were awarded two yellow cards in the reverse fixture against Roma, and this bet landed in both league meetings between these sides in the previous campaign.

Yerry Mina was absent for Cagliari when they faced Roma in December, but the centre back has made his return from injury and has been a key reason for his side's success. The Cagliari skipper has played the full 90 in three straight matches coming into this clash, so seems to be functioning at full fitness. 

He has accrued a total of five fouls in those matches and was carded against Fiorentina in his last away match. The former Everton man is incredibly aggressive in his duels and should have plenty of work to get through against Roma. 

Mina is averaging 1.28 fouls per 90 this season across all competitions, and has landed this bet in each of his last seven when playing the full 90. His primary matchup should be against Donyell Malen, who was fouled three times against Udinese last time out.

After completing a move from Aston Villa at the start of January, Malen hit the ground running in the Italian top flight. He was on the scoresheet against Torino on his debut, registering four shots in that game with two on target.

He was even more active in the final third against AC Milan in his next match. Malen accounted for seven of Roma’s 15 shots, hitting the target on three occasions before being substituted after 68 minutes. 

Even though Paulo Dybala was ruled out of Roma’s previous match against Udinese, Malen still found plenty of chances. The Dutchman racked up four shots and landed this selection with one on target. Even for Aston Villa in the first-half of the season, Malen had an average of 3.34 shots per 90 across all competitions, with 44% of those efforts hitting the target.

He is a real livewire in the final third, and will hope to cause Cagliari problems on Monday night.
