Jonkopings Sodra v Brommapojkarna
🏟
Saturday 17th September – 2:00PM KO
This one is between two sides that are in impressive form in the Swedish Superettan, despite occupying opposite ends of the table.
Jonkopings Sodra’s most recent outing was a 1-0 win away at out-of-form Utsiktens last weekend. That victory made it three in a row in all competitions for the home team and they are now unbeaten in their last five matches with just one defeat in their last nine games.
That impressive run of form means that they have begun to move away and open up a gap between themselves and the third-from-bottom promotion/relegation playoff spot in the bottom-half of the table. However, they do remain in danger with seven games of the season to go.
They now face a Brommapojkarna side that, under the management of Christer Mattiasson, have been exceptional in overperforming their pre-season expectations throughout the 2022 campaign.
The visitors begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting second in the table and just one point off previously runaway league leaders Halmstad. They sit seven points clear of third place and look certain to confirm automatic promotion back into the Swedish top-flight this season, following their promotion last year.
Their impressive run of form in recent months continued last week as they comfortably defeated Landskrona by three goals to nil, making it eight successive victories and no defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Given that J-Sodra come into this in their own good form, they will be confident of posing a threat, especially with their home advantage. However, the visitors should still prove too much for them.

OIS v Ostersunds
🏟
Saturday 17th September – 2:00PM KO
With just seven games of the Superettan season to go, this one is a huge match down at the bottom end of the table with two sides battling against the drop, albeit one team has a lot more of a chance than the other.
Orgryte IS come into this on the back of a 2-1 loss away to Trelleborg last week. That made it back-to-back defeats for the home team. They occupy the third-from-bottom spot in the Superettan table, which is the promotion/relegation playoff spot.
They sit five points above second-bottom in the table and their upcoming opponents this weekend, Ostersunds, who have given themselves a bit of hope in the last couple of months.
The visitors’ most recent outing was a much-needed and quite impressive 2-0 win at home to Orebro last week. Ostersunds have lost just two of their last eight matches in all competitions and those two defeats have come against teams in the top four challenging for promotion this season.
Further continuation off their fine and much-improved form could see them close the gap on OIS to just three points as they target an unlikely great escape following a year whereby their long-term off-field issues seemed certain to condemn them to back-to-back relegations, following finishing bottom-of-the-table in the Allsvenskan in 2021.
Only one team has scored fewer goals than Ostersund so far this season and that team is bottom-of-the-table Dalkurd. OIS have failed to score more than one goal in a game in each of their last four matches.
Given those poor scoring records, the form of the two sides and the magnitude of this match in terms of its potential relegation significance, it is expected to be a tense and nervy, low-scoring affair.

Halmstad v Osters
🏟
Saturday 17th September – 4:00PM KO
Following a surprise relegation from the Swedish top-flight in 2021, Halmstad retained the services of manager Magnus Hojlund for the 2022 campaign and they have mounted a serious title and automatic promotion challenge.
However, the home team come into this match on the back of a bit of a wobble in recent weeks. Their most recent outing was a shock 3-0 hammering at the hands of Norrby last weekend. That surprise heavy defeat means the hosts have now won just one of their last four matches in the Swedish second division.
That means the one-time runaway league leaders have had their lead at the top-of-the-table cut to just one point by the currently relentless Brommapojkarna.
Performances have remained encouraging and, with an eight point gap over third and just seven games to go, they will be expected to hold on to at the very least a top two spot and confirm an immediate return to the top-flight.
They now face an Osters side that come into this on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win at home to bottom-of-the-table Dalkurd last weekend. The visitors have now enjoyed three wins in their last four matches as they challenge for the top three and potential promotion alongside Halmstad.
They sit level on points with third-place Brage, who sit in the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff place.
Only the three teams above Osters in the Superettan table, Halmstad, Brommapojkarna and Brage, have scored more goals than the away team. In fact, Halmstad, their upcoming opponents, are the league’s top scorers.
This is a match between two promotion contenders with generally proactive styles of play so both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score, 1.80 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Brage v Trelleborg
🏟
Sunday 18th September – 2:00PM KO
Not only does this game have a lot riding on it in terms of the Superettan promotion race, it should also be an entertaining one for the neutrals between two proactive teams.
With seven matches left of the second division campaign, Brage begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third in the table on 40 points, above Osters on goal difference, in the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff place. Trelleborg have won two and lost two of their last four matches but they sit fifth in the table and a victory in this game would see them close the gap on Brage to just one point.
The home team come into this on the back of a typically thrilling 3-2 win away at AFC Eskilstuna last week. That victory saw them lead 2-0 inside 15 minutes before being level at 2-2 just after the 25-minute mark.
It was ‘typically thrilling’ because only the two teams that are above them in the league table, likely-to-be automatically promoted Halmstad and Brommapojkarna, have scored more than their 40 goals so far this season.
Trelleborg have still managed to show a clear quality in front of goal with 38 of their own being scored but the 37 that they have conceded is the fifth worst defensive record in the entire division.
The visitors’ 23 games consisting of 75 goals, as well as their recent form being two wins, a draw and two losses, highlights their inconsistency that could prevent them closing Brage down between now and the end of the season.
Brage will be expected to see off Trelleborg in this one and maintain third-place, especially with their home advantage. However, Trelleborg will not go down without making it an interesting encounter.
