📈 Aberdeen v Celtic Form & Stats

Despite parting company with Jimmy Thelin at the start of January, Aberdeen are still searching for a permanent manager, with Peter Leven remaining in temporary charge since then. The Dons have performed well below expectations this season, with a top half finish now looking increasingly unlikely.

That is partly down to the fact that Aberdeen have won just one of their last 12 Scottish Premiership matches, coming away empty-handed from four of their last five - the most recent being a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts on Saturday. That latest loss leaves Aberdeen 8th in the table on 29 points, only eight above the relegation play-off spot.

Aberdeen have received a joint league-high five red cards in the Scottish Premiership this season, one of which came away at Celtic in December. It is also worth noting that the Dons have been reduced to 10 men in each of their last three home games across all competitions.

Sunday's Old Firm derby was the very definition of a game of two halves. Celtic were outplayed by Rangers in the opening 45 minutes, with their title hopes looking in serious jeopardy after falling 2-0 behind at Ibrox.

However, Martin O'Neill's side showed far greater resolve after the break by battling back and deservedly securing what could prove to be a valuable 2-2 draw. Sunday's stalemate means that Celtic have lost just one of their 13 Scottish Premiership matches under O’Neill's guidance, though they have failed to win each of their last two.

Over the past few months, Celtic have struggled defensively on the road in the Scottish Premiership, conceding at least two goals in six of their last seven top-flight road trips.

Celtic's last four Scottish Premiership matches have seen both teams score, as well as producing over 2.5 goals.

📔 Aberdeen v Celtic Formation & Team News

Caretaker Aberdeen boss Peter Leven has employed a variety of systems during his time in charge, but in recent weeks, he has settled on a 4-1-4-1 formation.

As was the case against Hearts at the weekend, Aberdeen are again set to be without the injured quartet of Kristers Tobers, Mats Knoester, Nick Suman, and Tom McIntyre. Nicky Devlin could also be absent for the hosts after being forced off during Saturday's 1-0 defeat in the capital.

Martin O'Neill is expected to stick with the 4-3-3 formation he has relied on across his two spells in charge this season, though he may be tempted to make changes to his starting XI. Reo Hatate impressed as a second half substitute against Rangers and looks a strong contender to return to the starting lineup.

On the injury front, Celtic appeared to emerge from Ibrox without any fresh issues, with Alistair Johnston, Arne Engels, Callum Osmand, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Jota all still sidelined and unavailable. Celtic will also be without Auston Trusty, who will serve the second game of a three-match suspension.
