📂 Chelsea v Burnley Cheat Sheet
📈 Chelsea v Burnley Form & Tactics
Chelsea were left frustrated in their last league match against Leeds, as the visitors managed to snatch a point from Stamford Bridge. After going 2-0 up in the 58th minute through Palmer, it looked like the Blues were on track to record a regulation victory, but Caicedo then conceded a needless spot kick after 67 minutes, which was converted by Lukas Nmecha. A mix-up at the back then allowed Noah Okafor to equalise a few minutes later, and Leeds were able to hold on to a point despite a late flurry of attacks from Chelsea.
Chelsea were able to return to winning ways at the weekend, though, as Pedro Neto bagged himself a hat-trick against Hull. The hosts did cause some problems towards the end, but Chelsea were comfortable winners, and will hope for a similar result this weekend.
After Burnley’s win against Palace, Scott Parker would have hoped his side could kick on and build some momentum. However, they were given a taste of their own medicine at the weekend, as Mansfield somehow came away with the three points. The League One side managed just eight shots worth 0.63 xG, but were able to score twice in the second half. Meanwhile, Burnley registered 22 shots worth 2.82 xG, but lacked ruthlessness in the final third.
📔 Chelsea v Burnley Formation & Team News
Scott Parker did opt for some rotation in that game, but it was still a strong enough eleven that should have got the job done. Jaidon Anthony and Marcus Edwards should return to the starting lineup here, while Armando Broja could lead the line against his former club. James Ward-Prowse was given his first start last weekend, but it will not bring back fond memories. He is likely to drop to the bench here, with Lesley Ugochukwu to start in his place.
Liam Rosenior was able to allow Palmer and Joao Pedro a complete rest last weekend, while Enzo Fernandez only featured from the bench. After his excellent performance, Pedro Neto will hope to keep his spot on the right wing, while Estevao and Alejandro Garnacho will battle it out to start on the opposite flank. Liam Delap deserves an honourable mention for providing three assists against Hull, but he looks set to occupy the bench once again.
