Erling Haaland suffered a rare off day against Tottenham on Saturday but he looks well placed to get back on the scoresheet on Tuesday night. The Man City ace hit the back of the net against Slovan Bratislava on matchday two before bagging a brace against Sparta Prague on matchday three. That has taken Haaland’s goal haul in the Champions League to 44 strikes in 43 appearances.

Haaland has a real habit of filling his boots in this competition in the lead up to the knockout round, and there is plenty of scope for him to strike again on Tuesday night.

Feyenoord have failed to keep a clean sheet across their four Champions League outings this season so far, conceding a combined total of 10 goals in the process. The Dutch giants shipped three goals when hosting Salzburg in their previous European outing, which does not augur well ahead of a trip to the Etihad, making Haaland the obvious candidate to grab a goal.

Bart Nieuwkoop looks like a strong contender to commit a minimum of one foul on Tuesday night. The Feyenoord defender got on the wrong side of the referee on no fewer than four occasions during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Salzburg earlier this month.

He has also been a frequent offender in the Eredivisie this season, having given away a minimum of one free-kick in five of his six appearances thus far. It was a similar story in the Dutch top-flight last term, as Nieuwkoop was averaging 1.17 fouls per-game.

He could be tasked with keeping tabs on Jack Grealish on Tuesday night, who was fouled on five separate occasions during his one and only previous start for Man City in this season’s Champions League.

Given Jack Grealish’s knack for drawing fouls from the opposition, it makes plenty of sense to opt for him to earn City two or more free-kicks on Tuesday night. Grealish has regularly found himself on the receiving end of rough treatment from opposition defences throughout his career.

As already alluded to, he was fouled five times against Inter Milan on matchday one. He was also fouled on five occasions during one of his four starts in the Premier League this season, which was against Newcastle back in September.

On top of this Grealish has drawn a combined total of seven fouls across his three appearances for England in the Nations League in recent months, earning multiple free-kicks against both the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

His direct opponent is likely to be Feyenoord right-back Bart Nieuwkoop, who committed four fouls during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Salzburg last time out.

Look to Rico Lewis to commit at least one foul on Tuesday night. While the Man City utility man is not a regular on the referee’s radar, he is expected to be deployed in a holding midfield role against Feyenoord this midweek.

Lewis found himself in that position against Tottenham at the weekend, in a game where he committed four fouls and was shown a yellow card. He also tackled his way into the referee’s notebook when City crashed to a 2-1 defeat away at Brighton before the international break.

In direct opposition to Lewis is likely to be Hwang In-beom, who has drawn a foul from the opposition in six of his nine Eredivisie outings this season, as well as his previous two appearances in the Champions League.

Given Man City’s defensive shortcomings this season, both teams to score holds plenty of appeal at the Etihad on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola’s side have failed to silence their opponents in 10 of their 12 Premier League games this season, shipping a combined total of 17 goals in the process.

That has coincided with both teams getting on the scoresheet in nine of the Citizens’ 12 top-flight outings this term to date. They also leaked four goals away at Sporting Lisbon in their most recent Champions League outing, in another game which saw both teams get on the scoresheet.

Goals at both ends has also been a running theme in games involving Feyenoord this season. Both teams have landed a blow in nine of Feyenoord’s 13 Eredivisie outings this term, not to mention this selection would have also paid out three of their Champions League games this season so far, including their two matches away from home.

With a goal-heavy game anticipated at the Etihad on Tuesday night, it also makes sense to side with over 2.5 goals. Each of Man City’s last three Champions League games have featured three or more goals. In fact, two of those three contests generated exactly five match strikes. It’s been a similar story in the Premier League this season as far as City are concerned, with nine of their opening 12 games of the season producing over 2.5 goals.

As for Feyenoord, they also like to play on the front-foot, though they have failed to convince as a defensive unit under Brian Priske. Each of Feyenord’s opening four Champions League games of the season have delivered a minimum of four match goals, with both teams contributing to the scoring on three of those occasions. With all that in mind, three match goals or more looks well within range at the Etihad this midweek.

Man City merit support to hit six or more corners against Feyenoord on Tuesday night. The attacking intensity in which Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side play with can be attributed to them racking up 37 corners across their opening four Champions League games of the season, a tally only marginally topped by Bayern Munich (38). City have hit six or more flag-kicks in each of their previous three continental contests.

What’s more, the Sky Blues have been the corner kings of the Premier League this season. They have averaged a whopping 9.25 corners per-game, covering the 6+ line in each of their six top-flight outings in front of their own supporters this term.

Thus, a further six or more corners looks well within the realms of possibility when City face Feyenoord on Tuesday night. The Dutch giants have conceded a combined total of 17 corners across their two Champions League away games this season so far.
