This should be a really close game with the potential for an upset, if you could call it that. Birmingham are 4th in the home table in the Championship, whilst Leeds have only picked up eight points in thirteen games away from home this season.

My pick for this game is Wilfred Gnonto, who has found his game time limited in the top flight this season, having played just 349 minutes and made four starts. However, in cup competitions he has contributed, providing a goal and an assist in two appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. These both also came in away games against Championship opposition, against Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County respectively.

The Blues are capable of keeping things tight at the back, but Leeds extra Premier League quality may prove too much for them to cope with.

The emergence of Mateus Mane has probably been the highlight of the season for Wolves fans, with the eighteen year old Englishman becoming a first team regular in The Old Gold’s hapless battle against relegation. He shows courage beyond his years to accept possession in tight spaces, his youth probably being one of his strongest attributes in a season which has beaten many more of his experience teammates.

He has two goals and one assist in fifteen appearances, and should have a field day against League Two opposition if he is risked, but I see no reason not to given this is a possible route to joy for supporters this season.

Grimsby have played two Premier League opponents in cup competitions this season, famously knocking out Manchester United in the Carabao Cup back in August, before being swiftly dumped out by Brentford in the later rounds who managed to score five at Blundell Park. Even United scored two in defeat.

It hasn’t quite happened for Emile Smith-Rowe at Fulham yet, having broken into and starred at times in an early iteration of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side. He is yet to establish himself as a regular started after 18 months in West London, but his goal contribution record is still ok, a total of 14 direct contributions in 70 appearances.

He has started four games for Fulham in cup competitions this season, covering this bet in half of them, having scored against Middlesbrough in the last round, and against Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup back in September. In the league he has scored three times this campaign.

Stoke have the best defensive record in the Championship, having conceded just 29 goals in 32 games, but that has only been enough to carry them to 14th spot at present, due to their inefficiency in front of goal. They are winless in six games and if Fulham turn up they should be able to progress to round five.

You have to think that Mikel Arteta will take this opportunity to rotate his side, but that should still result in a strong line up to take on League One strugglers Wigan.

Gabriel Jesus started in the previous round at Fratton Park, and failed to find the net despite his side scoring four, but he did provided an assist. He also started away in Milan against Inter in the Champions League, where he scored twice. He has made sixteen appearances across all competitions, scoring four times and providing one assist.

Wigan Athletic are currently managerless at the time of writing, having sacked Ryan Lowe after failing to win in seven games. His final game in charge was a 6-1 defeat away at Peterborough, and if mid-table Posh can do that to Wigan, I worry to think what Arsenal might be able to do.
