Bournemouth v Aston Villa
Kick Off: Saturday 10th May at 17:30
A crucial game in the battle for European football sees Unai Emery’s Aston Villa side travel down to the South Coast to take on Bournemouth. The Cherries sit just one place but seven points behind their opponents here. Andoni Iraola’s side are unbeaten across their last five games, indicating a small revival from the poor period of form they faced between February and April.
Aston Villa have won three of their last five games and claimed a crucial 1-0 win over Fulham last time out to keep their Champions League hopes alive. Only four points separates them from Manchester City in 3rd so they are still right in the race but will need to find some consistency in their last three games against Bournemouth, Tottenham and Manchester United.
⭐ Bournemouth v Aston Villa Best Bets
Bournemouth committed 14 fouls in the initial meeting between the sides, Rogers was replaced by Jhon Duran after 57 minutes. The replacement was fouled twice when coming on, rendering this selection a winner on that occasion thanks to Paddy Power Super Sub.
Bournemouth should stack up the fouls again here, the Cherries often employ an aggressive approach off the ball which has seen them commit more fouls per game than any other Premier League side (13.5). Fittingly, Aston Villa win more fouls per game than any other Premier League team and now face a Bournemouth side that have committed at least 10 fouls in each of their last five Premier League games.
Rogers should be right at the heart of the action, playing just behind Ollie Watkins, or off the flank which are both positions that will give him a good chance of winning fouls here. Rogers has won 48 fouls across his 34 Premier League appearances this season (1.51 per 90).
Bournemouth can force a rise in this metric with their team wide aggressive approach to winning the ball back as we can see from their foul numbers this season. Rogers is also averaging 2.04 dribbles per 90 in the Premier League this season which suggests that he is strong when it comes to carrying the ball and he may have to be hauled down to stop his progress.

👕 Bournemouth v Aston Villa Predicted XI

🔍 Bournemouth v Aston Villa Players to Watch
⚫️ Evanilson
Evanilson has enjoyed an excellent debut season in the Premier League for Bournemouth. He’s scored 10 goals in the top-flight across his 28 appearances in the competition, which is a more than solid return when considering that none of these have come from the penalty spot.
He scored in the 96th minute against Aston Villa in the reverse fixture, which was one of his first goals in a Bournemouth shirt. He’s found some form over the last few weeks, scoring against Arsenal last time out as well as notching a brace against West Ham and finding the back of the net against Ipswich and Manchester City too.
⚫️ Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa didn’t feature in the initial meeting between the sides, but Mark Travers stepped in and was forced into making seven saves, indicating that the Bournemouth keeper will be quite busy here. Kepa has made 3.32 saves per game in the Premier League this season.
Bournemouth can be excellent off the ball and are very pro-active in hunting the ball back, but this can leave large gaps at the back, which Villa can exploit to test the on-loan Chelsea keeper on at least three occasions.
