📈 Burnley v Brentford Form & Stats

It’s just one win in their last five in the Premier League for Scott Parker’s Burnley, finding themselves eight points from safety with 11 games to go, and another immediate return to the 2nd tier come May feels inevitable.

The only glimmer of hope of late was the remarkable come-from-behind win at Selhurst Park, where they found themselves 2-0 down to Crystal Palace after half an hour but rallied to score three in the last five minutes of the first half before holding on in the 2nd for a much-needed win.

That was followed up by snatching a very late draw against Chelsea last time out, but with just four wins all season and the most goals conceded in the entire league, it’s going to take even more miracles if they’re to avoid the drop.

As for Brentford, it’s shaping up to be a remarkable campaign given how widely tipped they were to struggle before a ball was kicked after the departures of star forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, alongside long-serving manager Thomas Frank.

The Bees currently sit in 7th place and are on the cusp of European football for the first time in their history. Whilst it was a disappointing 2-0 loss to Brighton in their most recent affair, the three games before that really strengthened their top 7 credentials and have their fans dreaming of some superb away days.

Wins away at both Aston Villa and Newcastle were followed up by a hard-fought draw with league leaders Arsenal on home soil, a ground they have only been beaten at three times all season.

📔 Burnley v Brentford Formation & Team News

There’s no fresh injury or suspension concerns for either manager here, so changes could well be few and far between.

Burnley are still without a number of defenders in Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, and Axel Tuanzebe, although the latter is nearly back to match fitness after an Achilles injury has sidelined him in recent weeks.

Armando Broja remains a doubt up front as well, so the front three in Parker’s 3-4-2-1 looks to remain the same with Zian Flemming flanked by Anthony and Edwards, and Josh Laurent looks set to continue to show his versatility by once again filling in at right wing back and allowing Kyle Walker to play on the outside of the back three.

Likewise, little change is expected for the visitors, with perhaps only Kevin Schade looking to return to the XI that lost to Brighton, with Mathias Jensen the likeliest to make way for the German.

The one enforced change will be at right back, where Aaron Hickey went off hurt in that game against Brighton, and that should be a straight swap for the returning Michael Kayode, although Andrews could opt for experience and move Kristoffer Ajer out to full back to open up a spot for Nathan Collins in the centre.
