Competition: Swedish Allsvenskan
Both Goteborg and Brommapojkarna have been far from perfect this season, with the pair currently finding themselves in the bottom half of the Swedish Allsvenskan. Despite this, should results go in their favour, Saturday’s meeting will provide both sides with an opportunity to rise into the league’s top eight.

IFK Göteborg v Brommapojkarna Best Bets
Göteborg have been a difficult team to predict since Steffan Billborn took over as manager, with his side’s results not falling in line with what we would expect from his style of coaching. Fixtures involving Billborn averaged 3.79 goals per game during his time in charge of Sarpsborg, and when this team eventually clicks to his desire, you have to imagine Göteborg will be in for a rollercoaster of a ride.
Taking both teams to score looks a solid option, covering for a 1-1 draw – a score which has occurred in four of Brommapojkarna’s 15 league matches this season. The visitors, who have kept just one clean sheet across their last eleven outings, will likely need to lean on their attack again, and with Göteborg missing two midfielders through suspension, Brommapojkarna must fancy their chances of netting at least once here.
📊 IFK Göteborg Form and Stats
Goteborg recently lost manager Jens Berthel Askou to Sparta Prague and have brought in former Sarpsborg boss Steffan Billborn as his replacement. The new head coach has a reputation for implementing a ‘gung ho’, highly intense playstyle, however, the first three matches since his arrival have all seen less than three goals.
The hosts lost 2-0 when they travelled to Varnamo, before claiming a surprise 1-0 victory against Hammarby. In their most recent outing, Göteborg came within two minutes of recording the same result against Vasteras, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw after conceding in stoppage time.
IFK look like they are fighting harder and this is noticeable from the number of fouls (41) that they have committed across their last three games. The hosts have looked dangerous going forward but perhaps need more time to get used to Billborn’s system, with crucial decision making not being quite there just yet. Midfielders Sebastien Ohlsson and Oscar Pettersson are both suspended for this game.
📊 Brommapojkarna Form and Stats
Brommapojkarna, who have picked up 18 points from their opening 15 outings, have produced a very mixed bag of results this season. Nonetheless, the visitors clearly travel well, currently holding the fourth best away record in the Allsvenskan, having only lost at Hacken and Elfsborg.
Defensive frailties have become apparent in recent outings, with Brommapojkarna keeping just one clean sheet across their last 11 league games. It is also worth noting that the visitors have recorded the fifth worst xGA average per 90 mins (1.57).
However, Olof Mellberg’s side have been helped out by their strong attacking output. Notable performers have been striker Nikola Vasic and left back Fredrik Christensen. Vasic has excelled going forward, netting 7 times and supplying 2 assists.
⚔️ IFK Göteborg v Brommapojkarna Head-to-Head
These two teams have met five times since the start of 2018, with Göteborg winning on four of these occasions. The last time Brommapojkarna beat IFK was way back in 2013 and they have not scored a single goal against their upcoming opponents in any of their last seven meetings.
Head-to-head records can sometimes mean little but there is no doubt that Göteborg hold a considerable edge in this department. Arguably, the most relevant meeting between the pair was their encounter earlier this season, with Göteborg comfortably winning 3-0. However, Brommapojkarna did register more shots (13-12) and take more corners (7-4) than IFK in that fixture, amassing an xG of 1.93 to Göteborg’s 2.14.
